i recently installed my coolhead with a cometic non copper gasket. pilot sat for a while so battery didnt seem to have enough charge to start it. charged it. started it. while running after a few minutes when the fan kicked on both the temp and low gas light came on. so i shut it down and checked the gas- not low at all, so i let it cool off.battery needed to b charged again to restart, so i did and restarted it. after a few mins the lights came on again( semi dim this time) so i turned my head lights on ( to see what would happen) and it shut the lights off. so i shut the headlights off. after a few more minutes of running they came on again so i turned the headlights on and it made the temp and fuel light brighter. i shut the Engine down, immediatly tried to restart it but there was no battery juice at all ( not even enough to turn the neutral light on) it seemed totally empty. i assumed its not cause my battery had low juice, could it be a bad ground? could it be the aluminum head and non copper gasket is makin the ground wire on the aluminum head not properly grounding? any help would be greatly apreciated.

In not sure what it would be but the studs still go down into the cylinder. That would be plenty to ground it.

First we need need to know what kind of juice, orange juice or was it grape juice fresh squeezed or from a frozen concentrate, you happen to spill any on your "motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? ))" whilst cranking?

What did you do with the ground wire from the frame to the stock head?

On both my Pilots when I went to the cool heads I eliminated that ground cable that went to the head never had any problems you just need to make sure the one that connects to the crank case by the clutch connection is clean and tight.

Way his description reads I would say his battery is junk.

i didnt change anything from the previous setup, just put the ground wire back on the head like second or third bolt from the water inlet and the other back with the mounting bracket for the plug wire and what i think is the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) box maybe? neway that's where they were before and there wasn't an issue so im just trying to think of what changed. do you really think my battery is junk from sittin for a few months? it was a rather new battery before hand, but will the battery cause the warning lights to come on like that?

Did you happen to add a whip light? Turtle-D had similar problems in Glamis last new years. He added a whip light with a dual filiment bulb setup and unknowingly stuck in a single filiment bulb creating a short (reguardless of if he had the whip lit up or not). It was wired in the stock whip light harness that comes on with the headlights. His headlights were going bonkers, steering wheel lights too, battery also was going dead. Once he unplugged his whip from the harness, AL A KA ZAM!!! All was fixed!

Make sure you not only have propper grounds, but trace out for shorts in your wiring as well.

You charged the battery and it went dead after a few minutes of run time on the Pilot, I would suspect the battery.

Anybody ever tried to run the Pilot with the battery disconnected just disconnect the ground?

I agree on the dead battery it will make the lights do funny things, you put the old ground wire under one of the head nuts?
