Here is a set of bent tie rods MassOdy sent me for repair ( a long time ago) , I finally found some tubing that fits the rods real close (yeah I am slow sorry Bob) , the tubing OD is about 5/8" OD, someone in the past, a vendor selling replacement tie rods for the 350 eluded that you cant repair the 350 tie rods with the 'Easy Tie Rod repair by hoser..' because the increased outside diameter of the tubing will hit on the frame at full compression or full rebound, can someone go check their Odyssey and see if their in fact will be a interference problem before I cut and weld the tubing to the straighten tie rods?

Those of you not familiar with the 'Easy Tie Rod repair by hoser..' here is the link. http://pilotodyssey.com/tierod.htm

seems to me that if that hair bit larger tubing is anywere close to hitting the frame, then the stock stuff can not be much better, is there anyway to move the inward mounting location either way so that they don't hit?

The tie rods are usually bent by one wheel hitting something that don't move like a rock or a tree, I have seen a few bend by landing on one front wheel, IMO at least on the Pilot they bend way too easy, I modified mine 9 years ago after bending ONE just ONE time, since then the tie rod bending has not been a issue on my Pilot.

i don't know anything about them, but sounds as if they are also mounted rear steer"behend the wheel" were front of wheel is generaly stronger, also are they solid, from the pics it looks to be, and we all know solid is actually weaker than tubing, would love to see some pics tho, just to see how they are put together...

I've also bent (maybe these) by plopping the front end down on top of logs and other bad things.

Popped a tie rod end the same way one trip up here with the FL350.

Let me go take some pics.

I thought about doing the same thing to mine eventually. You can see a slight bend in my left side tierod in the last picture...
I wasn't real sure bout giving away $100.00 for something I could upgrade myself... And I read you had to drill out your knuckle to a bigger size, thus weakening your knuckle...

Thanks for the pics, try this turn the steering all the way to the right and check the clearance with the suspension compressed then check it with the steering turned to the right, look on both sides just to make sure.

That is terribly close, i can see a fix to the problem already tho, would like to see a pic of the tie rod end were it mounts to spindle, very first thought would be to turn the tierod upside down and install the nut on top, that would gain an inch probally, but it most likely is tapered, so next thing is to drill clean str8 hole, and replace with heim joint on the bottom side of steer arm with high mis spacer, if its not a problem, then no need, but even at bottom, flex does occur, and it looks like not to much would be possible...i don't believe it will effect bump steer, it may even make it better, would be curious to see what stock bumpsteer is, as the inner pivots are very far from a arm mounts, biggest key in minimal bumpsteer, is to have pivoting points in line... so i am sure there is some bump there, maybe or probbaly less than 1/4 wich imo is perfectly acceptable on dirt...

Out of curiousity I took some pics of mine. Jacked up opposing corner and had kid push down all the way to load up and had plenty of clearance on both sides with wheels turned both ways. Hope this helps. Baz

Ok more picture... The first set above is at full left turn... As I had the camera under fender needed to be this way for the pix...
The first two are at straight compressed then up. 3rd pix is at right turn, uncompressed, last picture fender hit the camera and lost aim...:(

Thanks for the pics guys.

So do you think their is a clearance problem with me adding a 5/8" OD tube over the tie rods?

I think the frame is notched at the factory for clearance for the tie rods (see red arrows) ?

Does the tube (blue arrows) have any scars on the front side where you have hit something in the past?
