First thing to do is make sure your battery is charged and is in good condition, if the battery is the problem you will be running in circles all day. If you are not sure if the battery is good or not hook jumper cables to any know good 12 volt battery (from your car or truck will be fine). The second thing you need to verify is that all connections from the battery to the relay, starter and ground are good. You can spend a bunch of money and change every part in the circuit and not fix you problem if you have a simple broken cable or loose connection somewhere.

Since your starter relay is clicking when you hit the start button we will assume the ignition circuit is good at this point.

Step 1: Verify you have battery voltage at the battery side of the starter relay. To do this follow the positive cable from the battery to large stud the starter relay. With a volt meter measure the voltage at the stud on the relay where this battery cable attaches. It should be within .1-.2 volts of the voltage right at the battery positive terminal at the battery. If is is proceed to step two, if it is not check the battery cable for corrosion, breakage or loose connections.

Step 2 Verify the relay is working. Connect one lead of your volt meter to battery negative and the other lead of the voltmeter to the second large stud on the relay (the stud that has the cable running from the relay to the starter itself). Hit the "start" button, you should hear a click and battery voltage should now be present on the stud/cable running to the starter. If you do not have voltage on the second stud of the relay, your relay is bad. (or you have ignition circuit issues). If you do have voltage on the second stud you need to run this exact same test again but this time move the positive lead of your voltmeter right down to the stud on the starter. (hope you have small hands). Hit the start button, If you do not have voltage present at the starter, check the cable for breaks, corrosion or a loose connection. If you do have voltage present at the stud on the starter you may have a bad stater (or locked Engine??)

Run these quick tests and let me know what you find.

Well I found the culprit... Seems that when I stretched the wire from the relay to the post on the BOTTOM of the starter(new starter was configured this way) the eye connector broke... I did do the test and my relay is good!!! I made an extension for now and will make a whole new solid piece when i tear down for paint...
Thanks!!!

Funny how sometimes we create our own problems, is their any way you can index the new starter so the cable is ok?

You might as well do a "how to" on this replacement starter to save others the headache?

I don't think I am qualified to do a "how to" but for those buying this starter go ahaed and make you a new wire from the relay to the BOTTOM of the starter... I think a new connector would have held up better... As far as Twisting the starter outer casing to move the post... not on tis starter... I saw a post months ago about one on e-bay, and that was recommended, but the case is solid...
I still have to drop the skid plate to reach up and attach this, but I have been siting in El Paso ALL FREAKING DAY waiting to get loaded... They failed to inform me this wouldn't be ready till this evening... I am 25 miles away from my favorite place to ride... and can't... OK rant over...
