I have removed the 28mm Keihin Carby from a stock fl250 which had the standard #120 main jet and #58 slow jet and wish to replace it with a 28mm VM Mikuni. What Mikuni main jet and pilot jet should I start out with? It seems we lack a lot of Odyssey knowledge down here in Western Australia,,, Hopefully someone can assist.. Thanks in advance. Dave.

I don't mess with Mikuni carbs that much so don't know the conversions you can try
to send a email to http://carbparts.com or http://sudco.com asking the same
questions, let me know how you make out I have others I can ask (pick their brain)
if you cant get a answer.

Your right Ed would probably know but he is in Western Australia that is why I
gave the other links first in hopes he could work it out by email, I was going to
give him the Triple E email I have but am not sure if it is still valid? he can try
smorrisk@yahoo.com

He can try the number but I don't think 800 numbers work outside the USA ?

Thanks for the advice so far.. The 250 is stock standard, and the Mikuni uses the large hex main jet type 4/042 and the pilot is type vm 22/210 that's if I read the sudco sheet correctly. I have sent off a few e:mails as suggested. Sudco have replied and have said #160 main and a #40 pilot.. With the time difference between US and Australia it takes time to gather all the info and for people to reply.. Please keep trying as a second and third opinion never goes astray. Thanks again . Dave. P.S. I have also posted wanted add for goki starter motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) only for the fl250 conversion. If anyone can assist.

Here is a link for the goki starter setup from hoser tech pages . http://pilotodyssey.com/goki.htm
There is another if you go into the tech pages.
If i can i will give sara a call at EEE and see if she has a conversion chart or a good idea.
I havent talked with her for a long time & it would be nice to talk with her again anyway.
now that you have given me some carb (jet) numbers let me look into the rageperformance link and get a look see.
Also today i will look into the jets i have but the slow (primary) jet i may not be able to compare with anything i have .

I would follow the Sudco advice but proceed with caution, don't just take it out and
go riding because it is running great take the time to check the jetting properly
and get it dialed in once it is dialed in you will only need to make small adjustments
for weather changes.

Thanks Hoser , I purchased a range of main jets from jets R us sizes 150, 160, 170, & 180 but they could not supply the #40 pilot . They said try the #35 and see how it runs.. So that's what I will do..Thanks everyone. I'm still after a goki starter motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) for the fl250 conversion , if someone can assist..

ok

first off i don't have the smaller makuni jets ,i thought i might be able to get close but i don't guess i can with my jets.

I just spoke with Sara at EEE
She didnt have the spec sheet they use for the 28mm makuni, but did have it for the 30mm makuni.
In the 30mm makuni they use a 160 main jet and a #50 primary for the stock fl250 motors.
Another thing to consider ,are you in your winter months down thier ? and are you going to run it in the colder temps ?
If you are going to run it in colder temps then i think i would go up with the main jet to maybe at least the 170 or 180 or even a 190.you wont hurt it being rich and can allways work down from there safely. My opinion for the primary or slow jet would be to not go with the #35 sounds a little to small and especially in the cold weather it may not even be close to rich enough, especially too when coming down off a high throttle run when you want a little extra fuel there to lube the piston and cylinder.

For the standard warm summer weather you might want to start out with a #170 main and at least the # 40 primary.A #45 or #50 primary might be a little closer and safer, but your conditions down there will make a difference compared to say conditions up here in the states ?
Remember you can allways go fatter on the jetting without worrying too much but going to small allmost allways will cause damage of some sort.

If you can get the #50 primary and the 45 i think i would do that before running it .The primary jet are allways a pain in the butt to change but better off rich than lean.

so all in all i would go with the 170 main and 50 primary and work down from there. That is what EEE starts with on a stock fl250 w/makuni 30mm but a bit richer on the main jet for standard warm weather conditions.

EEE (sara or ed) has another phone # if you like i will post it after this message is post.good luck
