As the title says. I am looking for the proper way to make sure the float level is set right on this carb. I have tried searching the net and found no specs on this carb that tell me what I need. Any idea on this or a website with the info? Thanx Bill

Have you got your answer to this yet? I don't really mess with Mikuni carbs but can probably help you find your answer.

I have not found the true answer yet. I have done about three hours of searching and all I found was a couple sellers of this unit. There is a little info I found on other Mikuni's but they are some special carb for Hardley-a-Davidson. I would like to know what the maker recommends. But I have been unsuccessful in finding thier specs. Thanx Bill

Well your search defiantly made more progress than mine ever did. Its the first time I have seen that much info on these carbs in one place. Thanx X10!! It does state to set the float between 17mm and 19mm. Guess I will have to guestimate (or go 18mm). I am going to favor a richer setting as it has been doing the lean out thing on me. I was looking at the "Power Jet" they offer on there for extended full throttle runs. Looks like a dial a jet type add on?? But jets you change instead of a dial you spin. I do not suppose anyones got any expierience with that mod? (Power jet) ? Thanx for the link. Bill

The other tip I learned from the dealer(Ian Williams Tuning) and my mechanic, is the same as for the others, which is to set the Float Plate parallel with the carb body.

I think your jetting problems are more Engine design than carb issues...

I am afraid that you may be right on with the other Engine issues causing most of my issues. I am hoping to have these cornered this time. I do have a question that's sort of related. What will to much squish area cause in a motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? ))? Before I think I had to little and If I went to far here I can reduce it. But I am curious as to what to much area there can cause. Thanx Bill

I have forget most the details about your Engine I wish we would have documented them here but I think you need to correct the CR (compression ratio) problem by re chambering the head or replacing the head rather than trying to correct with spacers.

Can you measure from the top of your cylinder to the top of your exhaust port opening at its highest point?

The two stock jugs that I had ported have not had the head surface milled down I do not believe. They both measure 1.64 inch. (ones 1.644 and the other 1.645) <PCP port jobs) The other jug that was on the machine when I got it is 1.66 inch to the top of the exhaust port. <(PMR port job.)
