I have had this old 80's race Ody for a about 6 months now. I just pulled it into the shop to start the rebuild. I also have another Ody that I want to try the match the setups But looking at my drivin clutch I noticed that it is backwards to my other Ody's. What I need to know is what it would take to do this mod? As you can see they moved the reduction unit to the middle. Then the cam is hooked to the Reduction unit. You can see the shaft goes all the way thru the frame and bolted. Can you just turn it around like this?

Can anyone explain whats going on with this drivin? Would this be a hard mod to set up like this? Or lots of machining I should say? Here are some pics of the Ody. And the blue Ody is the one I want to make full suspension.

If need be I can take better pics. I just had these on file.

Is there two snap ring slots on the fl250 drivin shaft? Perhaps they just reversed it lining it up with the snap ring slots. Then ran the bolt out of the end of the shaft?

Is there two snap ring slots on the ody drivin shaft? Or would you have to machine stuff to make this work.

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Just trying to figure out a derection to to plan. And understand my setup better.

Hoser

Just wondering what they had to do so move the reduction box to the cam side and not the rotor side? The reduction box is in the middle of the buggy and not the let side. Some how they reversed it all.

Far as I know all they did was turn the trans around and mount it in the center so they could add the suspension, then just turn the clutch assembly around on the input shaft.

So to do this would you have to machine the snap ring slot? or does the stock input shaft have snap ring slot on both ends of the shaft?

Their is no snap ring slot on the input shaft of the Odyssey transmission its just a 7/8"? shaft with a key slot machined into the shaft, I think the snap ring slot your talking about is the one on the driven clutch itself you only need to mess with that snap ring when your servicing the driven clutch, remove the snap ring to remove the cam and spring and movable pulley.

To remove the driven clutch you just remove the bolt and washer on the end of the shaft the clutch should slide right off the trans, many if not most are rusted on and can be hard to remove.

Some driven clutch info might help you.
