OK..so I got the new original Mikuni fuel pump today. That problem is fixed. It draws fuel now.

Remember this is a new top end. I have not actually run the old gal other than in the shop.

There seems to be a lot of smoke and oil spooge The oil is making a mess on my new clean Engine.

Cant get that damn exhaust sealed up. It has a new ring and an OEM gasket.

Should I atv the damn thing??

Im running good gas 1/2 race and 1/2 93 octane at a 32:1 ratio.

My carb is all stock and the settings are stock as well per the manual.

Do you think I should move the needle or change the idle jet to a 45. Seems a bit rich at the moment.

Messing with the fuel air ration wouldn't make that big a difference?? You think?

It starts the very second I press the starter button.

My plug is not dry either. A little wet oily on it.

And I also have new Boysen reeds.

Fuel is not kicking out the back anymore.

Yup you answered your own question.
Your right, you should have red silicone it. I think that's what everybody does.

I don't use the silicone anymore. I now use exhaust cement made by Kleen-flo.
Not sure if they still make it. Have had this tube laying around for years.
The stuff is tested to 1500'F and works great. Better than silicone in my opinion.

I think that's the same stuff I use just made by another outfit.
My tube says Kleen-flo muffler cement.

First, adjusting the air screw does make a difference. Second, you can't jet an Ody with it sitting in the shop. If the Engine was properly lubed during assembly, it will smoke and spew crap out of the pipe until all the excess oil burns off. After you get the exhaust sealed up, go do your break in runs. After that you can do your adjusting / jetting.

Take it out and run it some before getting too excited about the smoke and spooge.

I use high temp silicone as in the link it seals perfectly and comes apart in the future easily, cleans up easily before reassembly.

I have no clue with the cement, I do know the silicone has to be clean and allowed dry 24 hrs before even cranking the Engine over like checking compression if its not dry IT WILL LEAK BAD  silicone has to be cured before service.
