Yet you cant order a CR500 rod kit, disassemble the crankshaft and install a the new rod?

That reads like a oxymoron...

What do you think Speedchaser does for a living.

Why would I????
If I needed or wanted to rebuild this Engine , Trust me, I would and could.
I don't need or want it.
I have a complete running Engine on the bench for the restore now.

I don't plan on restoring another one / and have no desire to become a pilot builder.
I may build something with the left over chassis and suspension components. But won't be running a Pilot motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) if I do.
As to Speedchaser, I would't know as I'v never had the opportunity or the pleasure to meet him.

About the clutch, is the center cap missing, if not can you pull off and look inside to see if there is any lubricant still in the clutch. THanks

The center cap was removed .
I needed it for the restoration.
The clutch has plenty of grease in it.
I had to run to the shop to meet with a client today.
Snapped a few more pics of the clutch . Hope they help.....

Did some one just recently sell a complete bottom end here for like 400 bucks or something? Stix didn't you buy it?
Here it is, using this a base for selling the prices seem a touch higher:

viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14498

I have purchased complete bottom end for parts for around 200 bucks, sometimes higher, sometimes lower. In fact I have a lower end going to Hosers for a rebuild that I got for 100 bucks. Not starting a fight here, just trying to inform all parties about prices for a comparison.

And do ya see anything wrong with that case?
The rather large gaping hole in the mounting tab aria would have been my first clue.
But I gotta say that was a smoking good deal.
Hope that Badbob has found a new job. He sounded rather desperate in that post.
And you sound like you new it by your response to stix after he scored it.

"Good find my friend, that's a steal for sure!!!"
I believe was your response.

"Oh for sure, to guys like us that is a gold mine-I was happy you go it, but sad I didnt! Cases alone well worth that price alone, as posted the stator etc is all quality items you are not going to be able to get in a couple years. Greta post, great price and a great find for you!!"
This was one of your other responses.

And you were right . a steal.
I'm not un-employed or desperate .
And if you have read this post you already know that I'm open to fair offers.

No you'r not man.
I'm sorry that I got confrontational. You probably didn't deserve that.
I should have researched the pricing of these parts a bit more before I posted them on this site.
I'm sure you guys are just trying to look out for your own. As I am a NOOB to this site.
Thanks for the education. I'm always ready and willing to learn.
I will remove all pricing from my add and just take offers.
Hope that will end the problem........ Gregg IE: Boxcar

I maybe unemployed but NOT desperate, Just wanted to get my money back from buying the project and I thought if I gave some members on here a good deal on some parts they would remember that when I need to find some parts, YES one side case was shot but the rest of the parts were good, IF I was DESPERATE I would part the whole ((Bad Word)) thing out and ask a lot more money, I am sure I could get a lot for the steering wheel with the working master cylinders and the transmission..
You sound like the desperate one, I seen your add on Craigslist and about shit when I seen the prices you asked and that was from the pilot you paid $500?

I saw that to bob. I'd didn't bust his balls on him paying $500 for it because what you pay for something at what it's worth can be two different things. Pretty shitty though coming here trying to rape people. I agree with giving people good deals and they may give you a good deal if you need parts in the future. Pretty good group of guys here. Not everyone thinks that way.

Hey bob , sorry if I offended you. Not my intent.
As to the rape comment: Hey, I already admitted my mistake , and ignorance. And have remedied it, Let it go boys....
If you check my posts on sights that I am an old timer on, you'd find that I am generally one of the first guys to pipe up with: free shop time and or free or low cost parts to my compatriots.
I'm an off road fabricator . Things like , Jeeps, Samurai's , hy-bred Datsuns etc, etc. I use the same name everywhere . Easy to find.
Not that it's any ones freaking business. But in order to clear the air:
The $500 buggy was purchased as a parts rig for a restoration that I promised a very old and dear friend many years ago.
I have been on the hunt for a parts rig ever since . You all know how that goes.
As my friend is on a fixed income , has no funds for toys, ( but one of the neatest old friends I have ) the sale of the un needed parts are paying a small part of the restoration costs ,( part's , blasting and powder coating ). The rest will go back to him.
I will eat all the labor and shop time.....

Tell ya what. If anyone close to me has a sand blaster and powder coating business, and is willing to trade parts for blasting and powder. I'd be very interested in trades.

And Bob. Just so there are no hard feelings, I have an older ( Air cooled ) 440 snow machine Engine that runs like a spanked monkee.
While it wouldn't be my first choice in a Pilot transplant , it's your's if you want to come and get it. From the clutch to the pipe.
It's Monday and I have a fairly full day today.
Can't sit in front of this damn computer all day. Have a good one guy's .... Boxcar.

No hard feeling , Just did not want to be called desperate for giving people a good deal on the parts I did not need, I have been a member on this board for about 13 years , it may say I joined in 2007 but I was on before Kiowa messes it up , i think it was 2001 when I joined the first time.
Thanks for the offer on the 440 Engine but I don't need it, I already have a water cooled 440 Engine sitting in my kitchen :-) , On my pilot project I want to get a bigger Rotax Engine like a 583, there is always a lot of cheap used sleds for sale in the spring time when the snow melts. the Engine will be the last thing I get for it, need to rebuild, replace and paint everything on the pilot., I just bought one of Speedchaser's front bumpers for the pilot since he has them on sale.
When I do get desperate I will be selling a boat load of FL350 parts :-)
Thanks
Bob

In the process of buying the crank with the hope of restoring it. I asked for more detailed pictures. I was told the crank was already packed for shipping. I then asked for it to be unpacked and pictures taken. I basically was told to go pound sand. Buyer be ware!!!!!!!

Bull shit..... Was told that It was packaged for shipping.
That for $50 I wasn't going to spend another Hour going to the shop, un- packing the damn thing and taking detailed pics of it , re-pack it ,come back to the office , uploading sed pics on a crank that I already described as a rusty LUMP.....
Then ( politely ) stated that if he wanted it fine, if not fine. I'd weld it to a stand and make a trophy for the poker run this weekend.....
I actually do have a business to run here. And don't have the time in the day for things like that.
More pics wouldn't have been a problem if he hadn't already committed to buy the damn thing . Ergo : why it was already packaged to ship . And then decided he wanted more pics......... For Christ sake .......

The PM I sent him:

You are trying to buy a " rusty " and what I described as a Lump of a crank for $50.
The bearing races look pretty good / the rod race is a question as it has a rod stuck to it.
I already have more time in the running around and packaging than the $50 will cover.
I'm not trying to scam anyone or be a dick here. But at this point I'm not willing to spend any more time on this crank. If ya want it , fine . if not fine. I'll weld it to a steel base and make a goofball trophy out of it for next Saturdays poker run....

Bullshit is right!

If you are what you say you are and can do what you say you can you would simply spend 80 bux on a CR500 rod kit then rebuild that crankshaft whilst you were rebuilding you would also take detail pictures and describe the process if everything went well and their was no damage to the seal surfaces, threads, splines etc you could sell the crank for 450.00 plus actual shipping.

But I think your skills end at turning the crank into a trophy.

Yeah your right I don't know you I am just making assumptions only from the comments you have made on this site and its only you that is painting the picture I see in my head.

You can get the rod kit here viewtopic.php?f=37&t=10184

You can browse Speedchasers world and see how it does cranks viewforum.php?f=46

All kinds of how to videos on youtube https://www.youtube.com/results?search_ ... ebuilding+

Many guys like Speedchaser make their own fixtures http://www.pilotodyssey.com/crankshaft11.htm

Look Hoser I'm not trying to get into the PILOT business.
I don't have the time to spend rebuilding a crank I will never use.
I'm not sure why you don't understand that.
But If you need something like this built Call me......

I'v got a 2 year back log of work. Hell I don't have time to do the one pilot I do plan on restoring .

The things we do for friends...........

I'm not trying to get on your bad side here man.
You gotta understand , I'm not a mini buggy guy, Or builder. My tastes run a bit larger.
I came to your sight to learn about a rig I'm working on. That's it.

If I wanted a Pilot Engine rebuilt , I'd probably send it to someone like you. That doesn't mean I'm incapable.
It means I don't have the time. Or the interest.
