In a big victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down a ban on carrying concealed weapons in Illinois — the only state where it had remained entirely illegal.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said state lawmakers have 180 days to write a new law that legalizes concealed carry.

Nah I have a slight chub but it will be nice to be able to carry legally when I go into the city with or without my family. It's getting bad in the city!

Seems simple to me first Cook county could pass their own ordnance and have "no carry in cook county" so that blows your dreams of you and the wife arming up so you can drag your family into the danger zone, not sure why you want to go their in the first place much less take any member of your family.

Those in charge and opposed to concealed carry could just charge 1000.00 per year per permit to carry a gun in Illinois, be real easy to show on paper its going to cost more than 1000.00 per applicant to process and maintain the new data base heck I see at least another 100 new state workers being hired just to administer this new program, no doubt they will headquarter this in downtown Chicago and will need to build a 10 million dollar building for the new department that will also need about 5 million dollars to fill the new building with office essentials.

I am sure those that are opposed to the gun carry thing will make it easy to get a permit if you can pass all the test lol

What do you do with your gun when you get to say burger king, walmart or your local gas station and they have a policy "no guns on site" not that it would happen I just know many in Illinois are opposed to the idea.

For me its been 50 years and never once I needed or wished I had a gun on me.

First mistake was him being their haha I don't feel a bit sorry for him or any other victim in that cesspool, if I was in charge I would be giving out free ammo and gun lessons with the welfare check each week to speed up the process they have going.

I have no reason to get any place close to cook county or where its dangerous so simply don't go heck I wont even go to any of the air ports to pickup or deliver they can call a cab or limo but I wont be going :-)

Lansing area was real nice back in the early 80's We used to ride bikes and go carts all over town, never a worry. That entire area went to crap when they pushed the minorities out of the city for the revitalization in the late 80's early 90's. Pushed them into the burbs along with their crime that they live by. Families that invested their lives into the community basically lost their entire investment. Family had a bakery in Roseland back in the 60's and 70's, you don't even think of going into the neighborhood anymore. Put them back into the housing along the dan ryan and watch them barbeque out the window of the 20th floor.

We got the same shit going on here. They built these income based apartment complexes around here. Very nice apartments.(nicer than where I can afford to live but that's another story!) they moved these people here to get the inner city kids out of the hoods. Guess what they did. Now drunken crackwhore mommy pays $100 a fuckin month for a super nice 3 bedroom apartment where she can raise her heroin dealers. The idea was to bring these pukes out here to clean them up. Instead they've filled the schools with drugs. The old saying holds true. "you can take the trash out of the trailer park but you can't take the trailer park out of the trash!"

Oprah was responsible for bringing most the trash to Ottawa with her big ideas of helping them they dumped them into public owned housing then dropped off their past arrest records at the police station as they left town so the city knew what they had to deal with, Don was really pissed off he was born raised and lived in that neighbor hood never more than a block away from where he lives now and they dumped that trash on him about a block away.

I would rather have it and not need it opossed to needing it and not having it. That can be said for almost everything in life, tools, rides, clothing, food, helments, seatbelts, gloves, lights and firearms. After all if you don't need it you aint gona use it!

A friend of mines parents lived a few houses down from Don. They lived there close to 30 years and moved last year to get away from them. They went through a couple years of the bullshit. As soon as their youngest finished school they split. See there building another wing south of turnberry. Thank god we didnt rent it but we looked at turnberry several years ago and they wanted almost $1200 a month for just me and the girlfriend. They base the rent off your income. If your a working stiff they charge these insane prices. Guess somebody's gotta pick up the slack for all the free rent for dope dealers. Gotta love it. So here we live in our old outdated place(I'd take a box in an alley over turnberry now!) but if we were unemployed(by choice), on food stamps, and free medical care, rent woulb be like $150-200. This is all going on when theyre making triple my income slinging dope out of said apartment. Guess they need a nicer place than me. I mean they do have to sit there all day while I'm at work.

Good for Illinois, finally!! I hope they grant reciprocity to other states' CCW license-holders, too. :-)

Just imagine our buggies looking like something out of Road Warriors. I use to live in AZ and you would be surprised as to how many people carried. They still had signs in some places telling you to check in your guns and that was in the 90's.

It's a sad day in our country when our constitution allows us to bear arms and this sick f**k kills 20 young children? The first thing I heard was we need more gun laws! WRONG, it won't stop anything! We as a society need to be more vigilant against the ones that do this stuff and maybe starting beefing up security in all schools and other similar targets.

We need more gun laws? I'm not certain but pretty sure this little puke didnt have this gun legally. So what would another law help if he was breaking the law already by possessing said gun? Disarm someone that's honest that may have tried to help. But to that a gun should have never been in a school in the first place. Even if we had concealed carry nobody would have had one at the school. After thinking about this for a bit I think arming the teachers would be the best thing to do. Teach them how to use it and make sure they're not afraid to use it. Part of their job is to protect those children. Could you imagine being in these parents shoes. There would be hell to pay if one of those kids was mine. When you drop your kid off at school it's expected that they return safe. Those parents are trusting the school staff to protect their baby's. This staff ((Bad Word)) up big time. It said some heard the shots and quickly went to confront them. Those people are hero's. They did the right thing. Too bad others were hiding under desks. You think if a flood of school staff hit one of those rooms he wouldn't have pulled the gun off those children to defend against them? Bet he wouldve. He would have got to empty a clip but as soon as that first clip went empty he shouldve been dealt with. The fact that he got to reload is completely unacceptable to me.

Banned guns = high priced guns on the black market, why not take half of the TSA people and boarder patrol and put them in schools, metal detectors and X-rays for every school.
