See, IMO that's what a "cool" head SHOULD look like. You know, some additional cooling fins and such -- not just a better looking version of a stock design.

HOWEVER, if I remember correctly Aluminum has ~2x the thermal conductivity than brass.

In the picture the dome looks more like copper than brass to me.

Brass does have about half the thremal conductivity of aluminum, where copper has about twice the thermal conductivity of aluminum.

Why would anyone spend the extra money to tool a dome out of brass when aluminum would cool better.

Yeah this looks like a piece of junk guys. You shouldn't bid on it anymore... Just forget it's even there. :-)

I don't have a huge woody for it but if the price is right I'll buy it. Nice old piece. I believe this was the type of head the speedchaser head is modeled after. I agree with your earlier statement. That's copper not brass. Bet it works well.

So who bought it? I was outbid at the last second,no biggie though
If it works someone got a good price on it
What is so great about these "cool heads"?
I know speedchaser sells them but I don't know what benefits they have

The stock head on a modified Engine when pushed hard or worked hard will flex enough to allow the head gasket to start leaking I fought this problem for years until I bought a cool head never had a problem since they also move the dome to the center of the cylinder some claim this improves performance and is more desirable.

Never seen a Pilot Engine that made so much HP that it could not deal with the heat using a regular cool head dome I suppose some of the drag quad guys that had the Pilot top ends mated to the quad bottom ends were having problems but they were trying to rev them engines to 9k rpm more rpm less time to transfer heat with same materials....
