I am going to rebuild the works shocks that cam on my machine

The mount bushings are shot, they have some fluid cavitation noise during cycling, etc.

They are AT Steelers, .500" shaft

I know I could send them to Works, or contact them for parts, etc. but I am wondering if there are some off the shelf solutions for the DIY'er

My plan is to get them inspected and running well for the meantime, before I consider an A-Arm conversion

So here are the questions...

1) Anyone know where to easily get replacement mount bushings (other than Works)

2) Anyone had luck finding replacement seals (shaft seals, etc.)

3) What PSI is anyone using on an FL350, the tech sheet that came with the shocks states charging them to 250 p.s.i., but I have found alternate pressures being used in other vehicles

4) Other than that, any other tips on the rebuild, any preferred oil

There is a write up about rebuilding these at

http://www.thequadconnection.com/walkth ... pictorial/

Looks pretty straight forward barring any broken internals

personally I would just send them to works

I sent them to an local shop that "knew what to do"
And I got f#cked
One of the rear shocks blew out they didn't warranty them
Just make sure you tell them that you need new bushings

I had a board member(BigTom) rebuild a set of front Works with rezzies. They started leaking shortly after I rode on them and he knew what he was doing too. Tom was a good guy. My guess is that the shaft must of had some light pitting or something then erroded the seals a bit????

Works charges almost as much as new ones to rebuild...so I have been told.

Consol, If you deside to start rebuilding them, let me know... and are interested in rebuilding a set for me. :-) :-) :-) Big Tom said the "seal kit" was around $50. Not sure where he got them. He used to have a website call dirtcheapracing.com
