I know sometimes as humans we get bored but not this bored. the only plus is it probably was a father and son experience but I would rather spend $40 on a hot dog and soda to watch my local MLB baseball team lose.
Naw its occupying the brain that is the goal, you ever seen a kid open presents and wants to play with the box totally ignoring the toy that came in the box, same idea, getting the brain to go to work.
Watching a game with a soda is the same as your wife walking over and pulling the box out of the kids hands and FORCING them to play with the toy that came in the box, totally shuts the mind down, kid learns nothing, uses no brain power to digest their team playing the game....
No matter how bad or how dumb a project turns out they get my two thumbs up for the effort
Studies now link alzheimer's with lack of using the brain, one example that was given is walking into a store and having some mutt ask you every 15 steps "can I help you" rather than you walking around the store looking to find something yourself, apparently using your brain is better than spoon feeding it.
