I have a friend that manufactures specialty greases and he used to work for Mobil. He told me they used to change stuff all the time because of EPA regulations.
AMS Oil used to call the dominator line of oil Series 2000 Race. According to AMS Oil they just changed the viscosities offered and stopped putting in the red dye. I have been an AMS Oil dealer for over 20 yrs. and have been using this for over 25 yrs. I have not seen a better oil out there but if I do find one I will stand behind that. I believe that what works works.
The thing that turned me off about amsoil was about the time I got use to using their products they for no reason started changing the names and colors, I was not in the mood to learn all their bullshit all over again PEOPLE DO NOT LIKE CHANGE and I am one of them, then you call and talk to 5 different amsoil people and you got 5 different stories NEVER the same answer seems to me the confusion ran from top to bottom, nobody would or could give me a good reason for all the changes so I found alternatives to their products, I still use their 2 stroke oil but only after finding out their "race" 2 stroke
Engine (the red stuff they use to call the series 2000) oil they push on everybody HAS NO RUST PROTECTION and had to experience rusted up Engine internals myself on my freshly rebuild Pilot Engine I put about 900 bux into.
We could all argue lubrication products for the next 100 years pushing our brands what I push is biased on facts I found and can replicate and is not driven by emotions like 99% of other lubrication product endorsements, that is what I like about the bobs the oil guy site you can actually get scientific facts about the products you use.
I have seen local garages that buy the cheapest auto Engine oil they can buy, they change brands every time they buy a new barrel who ever is cheapest they buy it and use for their lubrication changes, Engine and transmission changes, even though they have done thousands of changes over millions of miles in the past 20 years they cant tie a single oil related problem to the cheap shit they been selling their customers, I am told this happens all over the planet earth not just in my little town, don't take my word for it ask the sales guys selling the cheap ass no name oil the garages are dumping it into millions of cars, same with the no name cheapest oil filters they can get, they install the filter they bought for 1.40 each onto the Engine of your brand new pickup truck you just paid 50k bux for.
I have a close friend that is a lubrication emotional guy he bases all his fact on his emotions and love for lucas products he is a dealer of the first thing he does when he buys something that requires a lubrication fluid change is drain all the fluids and lucas homo them up, he never owns anything long enough to know if the lucas actually had any benefits, the examples I give him are the 1955 CUB tractor my dad bought back in 1974 that has never had a drop of lucas in it same with the 1970 Cubcadet he bought new and I still own and use or the 5 different blazers and suburbans I have owned that has been over 200k miles each with no lucas in them lol but if you know this guy he is the type that needs that psychological "peace of mind" so he is not scared to drive more than 1 mile from home in a automobile without lucas in it haha
