What does everyone think about the different drive belts available? What's the best? Factory Honda, or the Carlisle belts, or any other brands? I just bought a hypermax Carlisle belt. Im curious to see if it will improve performance in any way. I won't be able to test it until this weekend at the dunes.

Stock if you can find one. I also bought a carlisle and shreded it had one ride on it . I bought a cheep one is seems to do the
trick i will get the name of it for you , I could run 2 of those belts to the price of 1 of the a fore mentioned.
The way to get the belt ready before installing is to wash it with soap and water on a brand new belt.
Some people also to say to heat cycle the belt also , I have not done this myself someone on here might
chime in on this one .

I know this may sound like a no brainer but take a extra belt with you , especially if you are going to load it up and go to the
dunes or where ever you are going to ride. Just a voice of experience Yes I did not have a spare , cut my trip short.

You run in the belt by moderate driving, with varying throttle/revs,not exceeding 45-50mph-80kph max, during the first 20 miles.
It allows the cords to stretch to their max strength.
Not following this procedure will greatly shorten the belt's life.
Remember to do your spare belt as well, otherwise it's not ready for WOT (Wide Open Throttle).

I've run the dayco 3004 snowmobile belt and haven't had any issues with it. The cheapest I've found them is at advance auto online... They don't stock in store!
I also run trails and mud/gravel so I can't speak for dune riding...

Ok I'll pull it off and give it a wash before I leave. I will have to just take it easy at first in the sand to break it in. Due to the fact that she's loaded and ready to go packed on the trailer with paddles. So no dirt riding from now til then. And yes every odyssey I have I keep a spare belt on board. They're usually crappy old ones I take off but there enough to get me home or back to camp. I need to order a couple more for the others I have. I did notice that with the new belt it doesn't rub against the axle.
