This would be a sweet idea for a huge meet up of pilots and Odysseus I'd be so in. I'd make the trek anywhere

I second Durhamtown... St Anthony looks to be a 36 hours drive for me.

Durhamtown.....sure why not? It only makes it a 2500 mile drive for me with a motorhome that gets 8 mpg. Hell it's only 312 gallons of gas.

How about Lebanon Klansas? Probably not a decent place to ride but it is someplace special.

Little Sahara, OK seems the most central location to accomodate a large group and good riding.

OK, time to put in my 2 yen worth.

There are 2 ways to look at this.
1) Best central location.
2) Best location to ride that is centrally located.

Central location first.
There seams to be 2 groups in what I will call the 'plane states'.
The guys around Little Sahara that I rode with earlier this year and another bunch more towards Wyoming.
They seam to be in the cat-bird seat for this meet.
Then there are the west coast guys.
An active group in SoCal.
A few guys in the Pacific North West
And Randman in Nevada.
Heading east, there is an active group in the mid west located around Chicago.
Then there are a few stragglers, myself included in Ohio.
There used to be a strong East coast group but they have been pretty quiet recently.

In the South there are a few guys, GAPilot and DC
(I left a space between the East coast and South in case there are still some feelings about the war of northern aggression)
Canada and Australia have a little longer drive.

So for central location the I think Little Sahara Oklahoma is well placed.
SoCal and Georgia are about equidistant.
They have really lax rules for what you can ride, no registration requirement (just pay your $10 a day for a wrist band).
The camp ground is not too bad - it's a little parking lotish but it is developed (store, shower etc).
For the guys from SoCal, there are the trails threw the grass - never saw that at Glamis.

On the negative side, LS is a little on the small side.
It's not so small that you notice too bad but it's not huge.
Also LS doesn't have the big hills like Glamis.
Also LS has a split season, fall or spring.

Now for the best place to ride that is centrally located.
St Anthony Idaho is probably the winner.
I have never been there so it's a big draw for me.
It has plenty of sand and dirt.
Nearby stuff to ride over to to check out.
Cooler weather so we could hit an earlier (summer) date.

I think the big factor is the distance.
For any East coast guys traveling down I-70 you are more than welcome to stop over a night at my place just out of Springfield Ohio. (30 amp plug on the front of the barn).
What do the west coast guys think?

Once we get the place nailed down then we need to work on a date.

Not sure how others feel, but for us in Cali, it's tough to beat Glamis or Dumont for the fall to Spring season, if you midwest, east coast guys want to get away from the winter, then come on out! I've been to St A. pretty cool place, If there was a chance that I might drive that far, it would be there.
Summer time I like to try to do a pismo trip, any takers for late July?

No way I'm driving to St Anthony or California, its just too damn far.St Anthony says its a 26 hr drive and Glamis is 21 hrs and that doesnt factor in pulling a trailer. My wife is not really into the Pilot thing and I cant use a vacation and go by myself not too mention gas cost alone 1 way pulling a trailer is almost a thousand bucks
I can make LS which is 10-12 hrs which is my limit.I don't think theres anyway to pick a central location for all of us to meet.If I was in Cali i wouldn't leave Cali :-)

OK, since its all about ME....everyone needs to meet ME at Sand Mountain Nevada. It's a short 90 minute drive for me! Ha Ha! :-)

The rest of you will just have to suck it up and make the trip! After all, I have driven down to Glamis, Dumont and Pismo to meet up with some of you guys, now its everyone's turn to come visit ME!

Gary, if you get the itch to do a little riding and maybe some gaming, you're more than welcome to come out to Northern Nevada.

The state of Nevada is one giant riding area! :-)

Why do they call it the mid west? There's nothing west about Indiana!

Now where I live on the other hand is definitely west. Carson City where I'm located is actually farther west than Los Angeles!

Coming from Denver I'm good with whatever you guys choose. Its all good to me. I just want to go riding. LS or Idaho both sound great but then so does Oklahoma. Are we thinking this year or next. The sooner the better gets my vote.
