Well what do you use to clean out jets? I might be in the stupid category here. I use a strand of wire out of a wire brush. It's always worked for me but I'm open to new idea's if I've been doing it wrong.

A wire is smooth, most torch cleaners are serrated or ribbed.

I've been using one like the second pic for years. I used to run oxygenated gas and that stuff always left a hard green residue in the carb. Those cleaning tools worked great for me.

I use carb cleaner, air, and a drill bit smaller than the orifice. Gently use the drill bit to clean break through any blockage - don't damage the brass. Then the combo of air & fluid generally gits 'er dun.

For the main body and other parts, I use PineSol in a baby formula container, and sometimes a little grimey toothbrush.

Many years ago 1998 - 2000 i worked for GM experimental engineering here in Aussie. We had a carb flow bench, complete with a mercury seal! I wonder what OH&S would make of that these days, anyway we did some testing on modified main jets. If you use any kind of drill the jet will not flow the way it was meant to, in fact a jet modified to say 400 might not flow as much as a standard 380 jet. Jet reamers were much better than those drill kits they sell but i wouldn't put any kind of implement inside a jet that could scratch it in case i damaged the flow rate. Buy genuine new, then you know where you are size wise.
