For you guys that have projects that require a Regulator/Rectifier like my 440 sled Engine into a Pilot mod, I need to charge a battery to run the fan and maybe some day a electric starter right now I am using miss match regulator and rectifier from 2 different sleds to manage my charging system this has it all in one and is priced right. $34.95

I am working on a charging system for my 250. I got the design from a previous post by Trinket using a capaciter and a bridge rectifer from radio shack. In his post he said that it worked well but never said if he needed to us some sort of voltage regulator. What do you think?

This is a post for MassOdy..

If it was mine I would hook it up then rev the Engine and measure the voltage if the voltage is not more than 14 volts I would thing you would be ok? I just had the rectifier on the 440 Pilot and seen it push to 19v this will cook the battery for sure.

On my briggs with the indy 500 motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) I used a full wave rectifier from radio shack. Cost about $4. I also added a universal regulator to keep the spikes out of the system, cost of $15.

Looks like a nice compact unit, set in epoxy should give it good durability.

Cool you have the full details on your setup I am all for a home brew setup that I can easily get replacement parts for..

If you can provide us with the part numbers we would be greatful.

How many watts is your sled Engine I think my ROTAX is only 100 watts, and the stock Pilot is 200 watts.

I had looked around about this subject when I first installed my 440 and everybody seem to be worried about the regulator and heat thus keeping it in a location where it gets good cooling, you add a heat sink to yours?
