Is the intake box stock?

Any filter change such as a UNI or a K&N?

I would bump up to a 145 main with the needle in the middle slot and do some plug chops.

After test drive it is rich. I do have this batch of fuel 20:1 for breakin hp2 100 octane AV gas.

Moved the needle to middle #3 position. Little better . Boggy on top. If you slowly being it up to speed down a straight away it revs better. If you give it heavy gas 1/2 up real fat.

Thoughts?

Remember the more oil you mix with the gas ...the more lean it makes the fuel getting to the Engine.
Less oil in gas richens rhe mixture of fuel the Engine receives..

Go Ody is correct.

Mix at 32/1. Mixing too high of a fuel/oil ratio oil will prolong the rings from seating properly.

I added a Gallon to my mix to get the ration closer to the 32:1 Think it is still 28 or 30 and moved the clip back to 3rd position. It ran better but still fat everywhere. Have about 4 10 minute runs on it and a number of warm up and cool down cycles in neutral before that.

If it slowly feather it up to half throttle and let it run for a distance eventually it cleans up and starts to tear but any more throttle and we are back to bog.

Can't believe the stock settings even for the straight fin could be that lean or rich.

Any direction from here appreciated.

You may not be running rich.

Do a plug chop and see what it looks like.

Going to order some main jets. What sizes should I get? Do you think I need pilot jets also?

No mods planned just want safe stock.

Re the Running in neutral

Never run in neutral for a extended time as there is NO oil being circulated in the gear box you will fry the
PRIMARY SHAFT / bearing

I jack the rear and select forward / reverse but never over rev.

Got some jets on the way.

Plug is wet and dark. Also seems like I am getting excessive carb spitting back toward airbox to the point of accumulates and leaks out.

Machine idles great but is boggy everywhere .

Thinking something is off with the carb. Going to disassemble and check again.

Any thoughts? Something is causing a rich condition.

If you have fuel spitting backwards through the carb, then check your reeds. This is a sign they are not sealing and allowing air to travel backwards through the intake.

Interesting. They appear to be boysen reeds which I looked at and seemed good but I imagine they do wear out. How about having the reed stops removed which they are?

What am I looking for a tight closure?

Not that I think about it I had zrt 600 with broken reeds that caused a similar issue.

Without the reed stops they will flex a lot more and cause them to fail at a faster rate than normal.

As far as a tight closure (Baz will probably chime in on this one Ha Ha) the reeds should be toughing the reed cage with no air gaps.

Here is how she sits assembled and the fuel puddle which is caused from excess fuel only when running and splashing back from carb.

It's not a leak in the lines which is what some might say. airbox side of carb even before motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) swap has been covered with fuel and oil and always had top end bog.

Thinking higher compression new motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) made it more noticeable!

Appears that your float valve isnt seating right...i would get a new one..you have to get a re uild kit for a honda atc because that's the only way i could find one when i was looking for one. I would remedy that problem before you try different jetting

Here's what we found: one outer red hangs open about a credit card. The other bottom felt like it was suck/glued. Going to clean he cage and replace reeds and gaskets

Float height seems to be off. Going to reset.

Got some new jets so going up a size for next testing.

Try running with airbox lid completely off...if the bog goes away or improves you need to go down a jet size...been there done that
