I am not sure about the sealed bearing fixing the oil problem on the 350 but if you think you have a situation where the starter is drawing too much current to allow it to spark just hook up a set of jumper cables from the 350 to a car battery. This will tell you real fast if the problem is a lack of available power or somthing else.

If you need the rebuild kit, call Chris at Zorko's they are in the Pittsburgh area.

Hoser, I go the package today, thanks, if all goes well, it will be on the way back to you Monday.

Well the sealed bearing does help keep it out of the starter. How ever it still makes it into the stator housng and you'll see its a mess in there when you crack into it.

I did the vent trick thru the oil fill and sealed off the interior vent and then when I did my starter I also used the new bearing.

I had the same problem as you are having.

I too used a freshly chrged car battery and still no luck.

Its certainly not EMF since those forces are huge to create. Mybe minor EMI interference but not enough to affect the starter field and the ignition coil's fields.

I found the starter I had was worn out. Not sure to what extent yet sinc ei swapped it out for another and moved on. I'll get back to this one someday.

It would turn over but not have enough power to turn over fast enough t generate a decent spark with enough force to fire.

I'd start with a rebuild kit and a good cleaning.

When I fill my motors,I do not fill it up all the way to the top as some do, I use 100cc in my motors as per ED at Triple EEE and usually do not have any oil issues with my starters at all.
There is many that can/will debate the 100cc as to opposing it, I would not recommend it to you if your not familiar with the topic as it is a personal decision for me to run it that way-as I stated it hasnt affected my starters to date-but it can in some eyes it can cause damage to internal motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) parts in some extreme cases.

ELWOOD IS INDEED a great guy-I have bought probably 6-8 starters from him to date and he always has doen me right-you'll need to send him your starter though as a "core" but you get 1 that's looks brand new back.Good quality product as well.

Its tricky but doable.

I've doneit once that way witha stock clutch.

My Comet clutch setup I had to remove the clutch also since the comet radius is larger than a stock clutch radius.
