hi,

i have read about people having trouble with there pionts ignition before, but i swear mine is trying to pi$$ me off

if i set it perfectly the Engine will run like a dream, so i switch it off. then when i start it back up it runs crap. it seem s that every time i turn off the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) the timing goes out by about 3-4 degrees. NOT GOOD.

i was thinking of putting some loc tite on the adjuster bolt, but then i thought, If it goes out how will i fix it?

can anyone help?

thanks josh :-)

Refresh me what the points setup looks like, I will assume the mechanism design to clamp or hold it into place is not doing its job, look where everything makes contact, the underside of the head of the bolt, both sides of any washers, both sides of any brackets, if their is wear or the metal is not flat and is some how deformed then you loose any clamping force used to hold the point set into position, you might just need to flatten the surfaces out again carefully with a file so they will hold.

Something is not holding in the clamp setup, remove the points they flat on back, check them with a file, same with where they mate up to, something or a combination of things is not allowing the proper clamping forces to keep it in place.
