Is top speed of a pilot limited to the ratio in the trans?

If you have 2 pilots one stock, one worked - will their top speeds be the same?

Keeping in mind they are both running same size tires and same transmissions?

Yes the clutch ratio and gear ratio in the trans will set the top speed.

If one Pilot is modified and will turn more rpms it will have more top speed.

My 440 Pilot Engine will turn 9000 rpm, it can be modified to turn 10500 rpm, I can install a smaller driven clutch if I wanted another 15 mph, I also can install a ROTAX drive clutch that is slightly larger in diameter for even more top speed, I have seen no reason to perform any of them mods..

The "modified" pilot would get there quicker, and then there is the CDI (Capacitor Discharge Ignition) rev limiter mod...

Old topic but I was wondering what the top speed of a pilot should be.I finally had an opportunity to test mine on a long stretch using gps speedometer app on an iphone.I have completely stock 89 pilot,my top speed was 51 mph, thought that was slower than I had hoped
