I rebuilt my starter with a new brush terminal, bearing, o rings a so on. Put every thing back together and it worked great but only for about 20 starts. Then stoped working. Took it back apart and found 2 of my brushes completly gone and the other 2 were about 1/3 there original size. They basicly turned into crumbs. My question is are there better rebuild kits than others. Or am I doing something wrong. Any help would be great. Thanks

I usually send my starter out for rebuild to ELWOOD at Stockers Starters-most old school stater rebuilder shops can rebuild it for you as well.Doesnt Piloodysseyperformance.com have rebuild kits?
What brand of rebuild kit did you buy?

Mudbogger the rebuild kit I bought was off ebay from "starterman" I don't recall it having a name brand on it. It was a yellow blister pack with all the parts. Thanks guys for taking the time to help

That armature is WAY worn.

Those curves, high, low spots will catch the brushes and tear/rub them to pieces.

You may be able to turn or have it turned down to an even and smooth surface.

Check this page out and the links within it:

Lots of info there!

Your armature came today I turned it down, it was in bad shape, you will notice some light scratches these are from me removing the burr that forms between the copper plates while machining, they wont hurt anything they look much better than they are thanks to the flash on the camera lol

The area where the brushes ride is now flat they brushes should last much longer..

Before and after pics.

Yes I am aware but do not no what fix I should do seeing that there are different ways of doing it. Still doing my research, cause I don't really want to run my Engine low on oil just seems like a quick and easy fix for Honda.
