I use them both 2 and 3. There not real popular with board. "H" has great read and comment on them so you can make up your own mind. One advantage they have is the block ( non metal)acts like an isolater and reduces heat transfer hold density better with flow porting. Jusyt my opinon. I have used boyseen and other and they work great in the odysse. I think nukem has a great handle on 350s for advice.
Biggest complaints I have read about them is
Engine builders say the reed petals loose their tension after about 20 to 30 min on the dyno then any advantage they had over other cages was gone.
The plastic cage relies on a layer of oil to cushion the blow as the reed petals come slamming back down, OEM cages have rubber surfaces for the petals to close on, they also benifit from oil being on the surfaces, wonder how much oil it takes to make them last 20:1 ratio or is 50:1 ok?
IMO heat transfer is not a issue at that part of the system, on real humid days you stop and look their is beads of water on the sides of the carb and area after the reeds on the cylinder.
I seen Nukem put one on his 3 wheeler and it ran better but who really knows why, the bike was jetted fat enough to leave a nice puff of blue smoke during acceleration before, the reed cage change seem to lean it out, less blue smoke, it ran better as it would if you simply leaned out the jetting, what nobody can tell me is did it flow more air and lean out the jetting (most assume this) or did the velocity in the carb drop enough it no longer was pulling as much fuel through the jets and dumping it into the air stream.
Either way I could give no honest real feed back with the data I collected that day.
