Why do truckers take 4 or MORE miles to pass another semi? One passing will be running about 1/4 mph faster than the guy he is passing... don't want to take it off cruise control? Truckers that lazy they cant put their foot on the petal and press down until they pass? I always thought when you drove a semi for a living it made you a professional driver but most look like a bunch of morons to me.

It is because their trucks are governed at a set speed limit... Supposed to be a safty thing? Most do it for fuel savings!.
So now you have 2 trucks set at 65 mph, one is at 80,000 pounds and the other is lighter... So one pulls to damn near completion of a pass going up a hill, until they crest the top of a hill and the heavy truck pulls ahead! I have seen it too many times LOL One reason I quit going to the east side of the country! 10 gallons of poop in a 5 gallon bucket!!!

yes very unproffessional especially when you can see a mile of cars behind you waiting to pass... then they get frustrated and start passing each other back behind the dueling dummies...

I know that all our trucks are governed to 60mph, if you try and go faster its a automatic write up or firing. Our long haul trucks that go over 300 miles a day or over the passes cant go past 55mph. Also they are monitored by GPS, trust me, when I took a small box truck over the pass to pick up a pallet of product that was left behind they called me as soon as I stopped in the parking lot for over 20min wondering if I was slacking off.

The big companies have to do it! Where you are at twilight the speed limit for a truck is stupidly low! All 3 states on the west coast! 55 mph??? I am always some lady putting on her makeup will rear end me LOL

Trust me it makes the long drives in the snow over the passes into 15-16 hour days sometimes. Its bullshit to me personally. don't mind overtime, but then they bitch about how fast we go.

Local drivers (300 miles radius) might get to do 15-16 hour days... I am limited to 11 hours of driv e time within a 14 hour day! I like this new rule most do not! I really don't like to "fudge" as some do because if I am involved in an accident, even if I am just sitting at a light and am struck by other vehicles (Happened to me) I am then a big target for a lawyer because I was npot supposed to be there! I think 11 hours is plenty of time behind the wheel!
