Ok you electrical gurus here is a class project we all can use.

A alarm that works by stringing a wire around and lacing it through your ATV's if the wire is cut a alarm will sound, they make cables that have this feature but I already have a cable.

I am thinking using a 25' or 50' cheapo 14 ga extension cord you wont even need it as a loop just twist the wires at the end together to complete the loop string it through all your ATV's then tie a knot at the end or hide the end forcing them to cut it?

A normally closed low wattage 12v relay will be powered up when wire is cut the relay loses power sounding an buzzer bell what ever located inside your RV and or outside, could also have it turn on lights, lite off fire works, call the police etc.

Ok need more details and part numbers for the parts I need, someone here needs to build and sell these

This idea was inspired by Afastcar suggesting a cable alarm thing and a conversation with Nukem he actually kick started my brain with using just a wire idea...

I will run by Radio Shack and see what they can do for us. I will make up several units for who ever wants one. I want to make it a simple and cheap project that runs on changeable batteries.

Hmmm, I finally see a use for that 12v motorized siren and an amber strobe I've had collecting dust for 20 years........

I would think a spring loaded set of contacts with an insulator pin connected to a taught 1/8" braided nylon string with the other end connected to a spring loaded plunger switch would work just as well.

If you pulled the string the insulator pin would pop out of the contacts and set the alarm off and if you cut it the plunger switch would set it off. Both switches could be mounted on the RV, bus, truck, etc, where the alarm, lights or 12 volt toe wire could wake you for a sneak attack on the perps.......

How about an RFID tag that would trigger the alarm if it got more than 50 feet from the transmitter/receiver? Right, simple was the idea huh?

Lining the perimeter with claymores out of the question?

Coincidently, the wife is talking about getting LoJack for the manx since it would be a piece of cake to steal.

A clothes Pin with a popsicle stick between two contacts as a trip wire would work.

Sounds good, I already have rechargeable AA battery's, can also plug into 12v outlet?

Mount them inside a box that is somewhat water proof then have a wire that comes out and you hook the wire to what ever you want to protect, for example they try to roll your Pilot out of camp it pulls on the wire or string seperates the magnet the alarm sounds, you also could keep the box inside your RV or trailer and run the string out to what your protecting.

Not the best but CHEAP and I bet fast and easy, something to scare someone off and to alert you.
