Here is base 5" x 10" like you said with my filters in it think they are the same as yours?
Can it be any bigger , how tall can the cover be?

I made the bottom so you can glue some close cell foam rubber as a seal and water
cant get inside...

Ok I got around to making a top for the experimental air box, per your request
10" wide 5" deep 8" tall, now we have made a elaborate choke what is next, you
going to find a K&N flat panel filter then we can cut the side out , you going to
add 2 pre filters like I added to the Pilot?

What are exact size of the pipes I need to install for your filters to clamp on?

I tried making an air box for the briggs car. They all robbed a LOT of power. I even used the oem air box for the sled that the Engine came out of. Even that killed the throttle response and top end power. The open filter design with the splash shield has worked the best, the filters stay pretty clean, and I don't get bogged down from puddles. The longer the runner from the filter to the egine, has a negative effect on the Engine, (from my experimentation). The filters I ended up using are larger than the filter I have on my 460hp mustang. How water proof areyou trying to make your box?

This air box is for Litespeed's Drakart right now he has two open K&N filters, you
know the deal on that, he wants to set it up with dual filtration like my Pilot and
not have to worry about getting caught in the rain or suffer from the effects of
hitting a big body of water when you least expect it, water resistant would probably
be a better choice of words, the area where the box will fit is pretty compact in
the Drakart I wish I could make the box much bigger, this is the Alpha version
of this project who knows it might all end up in the trash and we will have to
start over from scratch :-)

Hey Hoser, mabye you could incorporate that bottom plate for the pilot to be used for prefilters?mabye you could mount 2 side tabs on it and then mount it in between the back rollcage bars, like a stock 350 upper air box, then use 2 uni-filters with outer wears?I think Pilotnut or mabye it was Pilotsniper had a similiar set up on his pilot-that would be a great alternative dual mounting kit for the pilots! If you could do that -ILL TAKE 2 PLEASE-thanks.just a thought from a hardly breathing teamster.

Here is the room that I have around the filters.

It's amazing how we, when young, don't realize how much time we have till you get older and it's gone. I now have to call ahead to take a pee! LMAO Simply posting pictures is a month long ordeal for me. I think I'll sell the wife and kids. Any takers?

Come on riding season!

I have studied your pictures they do alot to jog my memory
of just how tight things are in your Engine compartment, I
keep looking at the box I have built so far and keep thinking
it just looks to small, I think it will be too restrictive, I will bring
it on the next riding trip so we can discuss it in more detail, other
ideas that have popped into my head while thinking about alternatives
is finding a bigger filter to go over both filters yet still fit in the
area given, this will give you the dual filtration you really need
but it wont give you the protection from water a air box would,
another thought was to find someone that was good with fiberglass,
cover everything in your Engine compartment with plastic or cellophane
then lay glass over what ever you needed to custom fit a box in the area
given using every little nook and cranny we can use, the box needs
volume...
