according to rider planet winnemucca nv is saposed to be the largest dunes in navada, anyone been there? we're going to go next week, we liked sand moutain but after a week there were ready for some new turf.......also checked out a new riding area for us,,Washington ca. it's about half way between reno and sacramento about 5000" in the moutains...the yuba river runs right through the camp grounds, trout fishing and it's the best gold river in north america... with 100's of mi's of forest roads and a town the let you ride in the streets, we'll be going there a lot. [gold panning is another of my hobbys], snow just now melting so next mo.

Damn, I just drove past there Memorial weekend on the way back from Salt Lake. If I would have known there were dunes there I would have stopped and checked them out!

Nice find Bruce!

More info on the Washington Ca. area please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, where are the Sand Mountain Pictures?

Like I said, Sand mountain is my favorite place! Did the 20 mile loop around the mountain the last time Liz and I were there.

Rule #1..... Never stop on an incline! It make it a bitch to get started even with good tires! I got my VW buggy stuck twice on one of the smaller dunes. I was embaresed as hell having to dig it out with everyone watching!

The wife and I are taking a drive out to The River Resort in Washington tomorrow. Need a new place to ride for me and a nice place with trees and shade to keep her happy!

Thanks for the tip. I will bring the camera and take pictures!

Thanks again, Rand

Just got back from the trip to River Resort.

THIS IS A SCENE OUT OF DELIVERANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasn't that impressed with the place but it looks ok. From what I saw the riding areas are not right out of the camping area. You have to drive a couple of miles through town to get to the fire roads. The use of aftermarket exhausts is forbidden due to noise regulations.

Looks like I'm out.......DG pipe with a Quiet Core (not very quiet) which is probably way too loud!

easy ride to winnemucca about 150mi east of reno,, camp site is right on highway and small,,, we were the only ones there? the biggest dunes in NV over 40 mi long but not high....i really liked the dunes but both odys werer breaking down so had to leave for sand moutain at least there i can get a tow if needed...got to sand moutain after about 2 rides we were down to 0 odys and the cool weather was ending so went up the moutains to check out some spots,,, first verti about 15 mi west of reno, road to bad for rv so took a chance and went to 3 of my lakes i used to fish 15 vrs ago, herd they had trails there...boy what a suprize,, we stayed right on the little truckee river, high temp of 82 deg. and great trails conecting all 3 ot the big lake [ boca--stampeed- and posser] great trout and salmon fishing on the lakes and rivers with lots of camping,, we walked and talked to othere folks on atv and the trals looked great,,,we saw a sign at boomtown on the way [up all you can eat maine lobster],,the 3 of us ate 11 whole lobsters, not counting the rest of the buffay.$23 each....should have both odys fixed about mid july and will be heading back up there, with fishing lic..
