I'm curious how many FL riders wear helmets. I've been riding FL350's for about 6 years and have gone from an adamant helmet wearer early on to not wearing one now for the past 4 years or so. Personally, I've come to the conclusion that wearing a helmet only increases my chances of whiplash by adding more weight to my head. I ride pretty hard, mostly in Glamis, and have yet to be in a situation where I wish I was wearing one. Opinions? Experiences?

For me in my Pilot a helmet is mandatory its the only thing that keeps me from beating my head off the roll bars, if you look at my helmet it has about 1000 little red marks all over it from years of making contact with the roll bars.

Make sure you have plenty of clearance between your skull and the roll bar even when your flipping and rolling, don't need your skull split open when things go bad...

I use two diffenrt types of helments and always wear one. I use a fulle face and an open face. The open face is lighter and cooler when driving the pilot and the full face offers the best protection. I made the mistake of ridding my trx with the open face and smacked my face on the bars. My nose got pretty big and bloddy. It was a reminder that if fail to pay attention to safty you will get a quick reminder. When being aggresive the better the protection the better off you are. Just my opinion.

Helmet is a must, I won't ride with people usnless they wear one and only selfishly because I don't want to have to deal with the mess.

I've seen this is much more of a younger person's feelings of invulnerability and or west of the mississippi freedom thing, personally I don't equate US's freedom to do what i want with wearing a helmet.

I know it has saved me great pain, I also think it helped knock me out a few times too wadded up on the ground

Like others I sit tall enough to collect red marks on my helmet. Even if I didn't, I would for sure wear one and more so at Glamis as that's the ride area I would put in number one spot for chances of getting taken out by another rider/driver and possibly a 600 horse buggy!
Also, I hear brain surgery is very expensive and you never look or sound the same after it!

Helmet, Helmet, Helmet, Helmet Helmet Helmet, Helmet, Helmet, Helmet Helmet, Helmet, Helmet, Helmet, Helmet.

Whiplash my ass! Do like Turbo said and get a collar if you have issues with you head bouncing around!

The majority of the accidents with these types of vehicles is a sideways roll over. In a roll over situation, your body is subject to extreme forces in a side to side direction. Unless you have your body strapped in so tight you cant move, your body will stretch the seat belts to their limit and you will strike your head on the diagonal side bars in the roll cage. Unless you have a desire to become a vegetable, wear a helmet!

Oh and did I mention, WEAR YOU FRIGGIN HELMET!

I've yet to clank the rollbar, helmet or no. On the other hand, I realize this is a possible "one and done" situation when it comes to my skull vs. a steel bar. I'll go get a neck roll and start protecting the noggin when I ride. Thanks for everyones' concern.

I use a thick horse collar, its about 2" thick it supports the helmet well, I got mine from Randy B
looks like this

Others prefer the collar that just goes around your neck like these
