Second Dumont trip for me in October. Plan on camping at same area as always (6-B or 7-B on map below) This is always one of my favorite trips. I plan on leaving thursday after work and coming home sunday (which is the 31st). I imagine saturday the 30th will be the day for trick or treeting and dressing up. Should be a fun trip!

Doug, I havent received notice, but that would be cool with me. I will send him a pm.

Cant wait to ride again, should be lots cooler weather this time around! Rusty (shoubadaba) is going and another friend of mine who has a pilot is going, slickrick is going with his new briggs car, we should have a pretty good size group this time. I still have your cell number, so we can get hooked up and get a campsite and what not.

When do you plan on arriving? I will head out thursday after work around 2pm or 3pm

What can you tell me about the trails at Dumont I was told they are by the old train tracks and you can basically ride all the way to LA or SF following them?

Nick, I can leave Thur. night or Fri. morning. Because it's not just me, gathering up everyone who want's to go CAN BE quite a production. I will not be certain, unfortunately, until the last possible day. I will ask AFASTCAR for his PayPal stuff & pay him for the hoses & 1/2 of the shipping. I wll contact you on the 26th or 27th to work out logistics. I have a nice pile of firewood & shop cutoff pieces for kindling. Doug

Doug, sounds good to me. Cant wait to hit the dunes, should be tons of fun. I got afastcar's paypal email, I will paypal him my half shortly. If you just want to have him ship them to you, that is fine. Or he can ship them to me, either way is cool with me.
I also have quite a group on my end, shoubadaba (Rusty) and I will probably be getting there around the same time, then my buddy Danny will be arriving a few hours after us thursday night, then my mother and younger brother will be coming out friday night, it is always an ordeal, but well worth it.

Hoser, I don't really ride trails out there. The only dirt type riding i go on at dumont is sperry wash, the entrance is on the road in to dumont. I am a duner at heart.

Decided to change where I am going to set up camp. Going to shoot for area 9-B. Super easy to find it, just go between the two razors, go about half way down and veer to the right. I will be camping along the face of the razor to the right.

ok, write-up time

Thursday, arrive at Dumont around 6:30pm and find a good spot to camp with a bit of daylight left. Get camp set up, and just as I finished my friend Jesus and his family arrived. We helped them set up and decided to just spen some time together and hang out, have a camp fire and get caught up, we had'nt hung out for a month or so. Went to bed at a decent hour and got up early friday.

Friday, up around 8am, did some plug chops on the pilot, farted around camp, went for an easy ride with the wife, Jesus and his family. I let Jesus ride my pilot up comp hill, and he came back down ranting are raving about how he wants one now! Came back around lunch time and started eating when I heard a voice behind me, I turn around and Doug (westecbuilder) showed up with his wife and 2 boys. We chatted a bit, did some introductions, and gave Doug some time to get his camp set up while we finished up lunch then went out for another ride. It was just an easy cruise of a ride, going through some smaller stuff and flat areas, kind of fun but not exactly thrilling. I was really ready for a nice, high speed ride. We got back from that ride, an hour or so passed back at camp, then I rallied Doug and Jesus together for a bit of a faster "big boy" ride. I jumped in my pilot, Jesus rode his 400ex, and Doug on his 250R ATC. We hit some bigger hills, nice, high-speed bowls and drop offs, went over to comp hill, around to some other dunes, then back to camp. I still found myself having to hold back a bit because Jesus is a cautious rider which is fine, I realize that he has a family and cant risk getting hurt, but I still had that damn itch lingering. We get back to camp around 6pm thinking to myself that Rusty (shoubadaba) should be back soon, and he was already there when I arrived. We helped get him set up and have dinner and my friend Danny (Turtle-D ... AKA "lurker" since he has no posts on the board here yet, he just reads stuff lol) shows up around 10pm, we get him set up, tune his pilot some, then Rusty, Danny and I go for a "big boy ride" which was really fun. We rode for a few hours, hit some really great hills, Rusty was driving a drakart sport that he is working on for a friend of his, which is the BIGGEST TURD out there! It has a 750cc v-twin kawasaki 4 stroke motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and it is just an absolute dog! But with Rusty driving it, it did go almost everywhere, he could'nt quite get it to go up and over the back side of comp hill. So we rode all night, back to camp around 3am, up until around 4am then passed out in the trailer.

Saturday: up at 8:45am. The wind blew for a few hours and stuff was covered with sand. I spent some time cleaning up. Danny didnt get any sleep at all because right after we went to bed the wind picked up and he was sleeping in a truck tent which was not working out. He sucked it up all day saturday and we got some really fun rides put together. Rusty, Danny and I all rode our 3 pilots together, Doug also rode with us but he threw 3 belts! Turns out that his movable face on his powerbloc clutch has a huge crack in it and it was shredding belts! He blew one out in the dunes, so we tossed on a spare and kept going, not 5 minutes later he threw the next one! We saw the crack in the clutch face, so we put on the last belt and cruised slowly back to camp. It was starting to get dark and it was trick or treat time, so we got a group together and went to comp hill for the festivities. There were lots of funny costumes, wack-o's, and lots of BLM we as well. It was fun, we spent about 2 hours just hanging out at comp. We got back, got geared up, and Rusty, Danny and I went on another pilot run. This was the most fun ride I had of the weekend. Hella fast, some nasty bowls, killer hills, and cross-overs that you could ride wheelies off of! It was GREAT! We rode for a few hours, came back to camp, hung out by the fire and drank a bit. I talked to slickrick for a bit, trying to get him talked in to meeting us there, but it didnt pan out. I guess he was lending a hand to turbotexas with the process of buying brooks' EEE car. So we talked a bit, hung out with my wife, Jesus and his wife, Rusty, Danny, and some of the kids and crashed out around 2am.

Sunday: (today) I got up around 9am, got some initial stuff loaded and prepped the buggys for a ride. Rusty had to leave early to be home for halloween stuff with his family since they didnt go to the dunes. Danny and I decided to hit our own little dune ride and find some jumps to play on while my wife and my mom and brother took the UTV's for their own little ride. Danny and I hit a hugh bowl called the Super Bowl, Danny took a video of me running it, I will put a link once it is online. He also ran the bowl, but I didnt get a video of him and I wish I did because he hit some huge rollers at the top, I guess he forgot they were there, and he almost doubled them! I turned back just in time to see him fly about 20 feet and land nose down, then bounce off the face of the 2nd roller and fly another 30 feet!!!! Once I saw he was fine, I could not stop laughing! It was the funniest shit I saw all weekend! AWESOME!!! We re-grouped, hit some dunes, played on a few jumps and got video of it, then went to the north pole, and just as we pulled up me wife, mom and brother also pulled up. Pretty funny, we didnt plan to meet there, we just happened to get there at the same time. So we hung out a bit, took some pics, then headed back towards camp. Danny and I went through some dunes and my wife, mom and brother took the more flat route. We made our way back home (sadly) and here I am writing this up while it is semi-fresh in my mind.

All in all it was a great trip, cant wait till Thanksgiving and also the Glamis New Years trip. Anyone who does not show up for these trips is going to miss out big time! They are always an absolute blast!!!!!

Dude, that was so funny! When I first listened to the voice mail Rick left, I couldnt figure it out. Combination of booze and sounds of sand rails and quads going by was throwing me off. When I figured out it was Rick, I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF!!!!

Sucks that you guys didnt make it out for some dune rides, we had a blast! Next trip will be Thanksgiving, I will make another thread for it. Would be cool to see you out there with your new EEE car, mine will be there this time.

here is one video i got up on youtube so far. it is me running the superbowl. you can see the two times i pulled the front wheels up while dipping into the bowl. you can also hear the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) hitting the rev limiter fairly early once i drop in the bowl, i think i need a new belt, it was humming and barking slightly near the end of this trip.

The flag snapping forward in pic 4 landing the jump is cool. Looks like a great time. Someday I plan on riding there - getting out of this Illinois mud.

I got 3 more videos up from this trip. Mostly just us being stupid and drunk around the camp fire.

Shoubadaba's brother riding a kfx700 in his underware
http://www.youtube.com/user/nicksbfc69# ... L2fjgjcl3A

I farted while sitting by the camp fire and our good friend Jesus blamed it on my wife, Stephanie. It was really funny (maybe because we were drunk).
http://www.youtube.com/user/nicksbfc69# ... oYUin5jjDI

Jesus made up a funny song and he used the shovel like a guitar. (Again, it was probably so funny because we were drunk. lol)
