I posted this on another forum this morning, thought the married guy's would get a kick out it. Sorry it's so long.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last night my wife and daughters pick out a movie for the family to watch (Planet 51), earlier in the day I had finally finished the wireing for my HID light setup. I had been waiting all afternoon to finally see this amazing display of overdoingit! So while the wife is making popcorn I sneak out for a quick spin around the property. I get to the back side of the property and find a nice long straight. At this point I have been running the stock headlights(35watt HID) as well as the 5" spots on the dash(35w HID). All is good, I am a 1/2 mile from home over a ridgeline back on my trails in 16" of snow, it's about 18deg. I reach down and hit the magic switch awaiting the brilliance that I know will eminate from the 9" ProComp Pro series 55w HID's, the spots on the dash blink momentarilly and then NOTHING.
Everything is dead, the motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) has died all lighting is gone. It is quiet.

Your mind immediately takes inventory, the rzr is normally stocked with items to handle a problem on the trail but i am home not on a ride. I just snuck out to see the lights... It's 18deg, I'm wearing sweatpants a light coat and a pair of decidedly unwinter shoes. Did I mention it's dark and I'm a 1/2 mile from home in the woods in 16" of snow...and the wife and kids are anxiously waiting to start the movie. I don't even have my phone, how often do you go anywhere without it? At this point any married guy knows this will not end well!

I pry the led dome light out of it's holder and remove the fuse box cover. Ok, this should be easy except that frozen fat fingers can't remove the tiny little fuses! The needle nose pliars are of course back in the garage in the "ride bag". Ever walk through deep snow, good times.

I trudge though the snow back to the house, amazing how hard it is to see in the woods at night with no lights, who would'a thought. I sneak into the house to get the keys to the wifes jeep(it has 32's and lockers) the only vehicle that has any chance of making it back to the rzr. I can hear the kids and wife complaining that dad is still out "playing" ugh!

The jeep makes it, needs both lockers to get there. We have light! I hook up the towrope and all is good. I make it maybe 50ft and the steering on the rzr keeps turning and it is heading off of the trail into deep snow where it stops the jeep. back the jeep up, pull the rzr backwards and straighten the steering, at least I have light. Do this about ten times and I'm over the ridge and I can see the lights from the barn. I'm done, soaked with sweat from dragging this thing backwards by hand each time it burrys itself into the deep snow on the edge of the trail. It's been easily 40min from when I snuck out for a spin!

As I'm dragging the rzr backwards yet again I see headlights coming down the field, ugh! The wife and kids have gotten nervous, tried calling(phone is in the kitchen..) and came looking for me. At this point I can do nothing but admitt defeat and accept thier "help", this will come with a price... Hmmm, there is no room to turn around this second vehicle around so I back it all the way back to the barn with the wife and kids, lots of questions, especially from the 8yr old! We "all" walk the thousand ft back to the dead rzr and the jeep. The wife and kids hop in the jeep and I will steer the rzr. Problem, the jeep is spinning all four tires and not moving, what the.... is wrong now! After digging out the wheels of the jeep and the rzr I realize the rzr is in park!!!no wonder it doesn't tow well. Bet that was good for the tranny...

Finally at the barn. One last slap to the ego, the garage is uphill from the driveway and I will need the wife's help to push the 8 million pound snow stuffed cannoli of an rzr the final 30ft.

Total failure is one 20amp chassis fuse. A simple needle nose pliar and I could've been back in business an hour and a half ago. Polaris even provides an extra one in the fuse box for you!

Sometimes I really wonder about myself!

Turbo, I like the coins idea, that's a keeper. Hoser was correct though, sweatpants no change. had just pulled the rzr off of the lift so it was empty as well. original idea was to do the whole test ride while the wife was making the popcorn, be back before they even knew I had snuck out. so much for plans!
