Thanks for the update.
That is the same type seal
Mudbogger got and I used on one of his engines seems to be ok.
That is the same type seal as used on the clutch side meaning just a single seal, it seals fine.
This seal rides in the balancer case where it sees a splash of oil from the balancer gears its not running under oil just splashed on, better than dirt moisture mud sand that the clutch side is exposed too lol
I always thought the double seal was over kill but Honda is like that, time will tell if they are a problem I doubt they will be, check your balancer oil level after each ride trip to ensure its not sucking it into the Engine, you need to check the level because if its just seeping you might not notice any excess smoke from the
Engine or carbon build up on your plug, if you notice a bunch of extra smoke when the Engine is up to temp better check it ASAP.
Time will tell if any of my theories are right or not lol
Install that seal with the spring facing the inside of the crank case like the clutch side seal.... IF you install the seal with the spring facing the balancer case the crankcase pressure could blow into the balancer case. Signs of the single spring seal wearing out would be EXCESS smoke out of the exhaust because of the worn seal sucking oil from the balancer case into the crank case on the intake stroke, when the pressure from the crankcase increases it can blow the fresh intake charge into balancer case.
If your running the SINGLE spring seal design on the Mag side of the Engine, do these two things. Check the oil level in the balancer case OFTEN like after ever ride trip and or 15-30 gallons of gas. If it is leaking and sucking the balancer oil into the Engine the oil level will be low. ALSO smell the balancer case for any signs of gasoline smell, this would indicate the Mag side crank seal is leaking some of the intake Air/Fuel charge into the balancer case.
