Hello all. New member here. I just bought a fl350 for a steal of a deal. The motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) was out and apart. I was told the crank seals were bad. The gug was bored and came with new piston. I put the Engine together to see if it ran and it does. Only ran for maybe a minute and I shut it off. So I ordered crank seals and other misc parts. I got down below the clutch and took the gear off that's on the crank to get to the seal that was bad. Ooops I forgot to mark the crank to line up with the timing marks on the gear. Is there any way to find out where the crank should be when lining the timing marks on the gears is? I thought it would only go on one way but I was wrong.

Really?

Your doing all this without a service manual?

First thing you need to do is get a service manual then read it cover to cover, the service manual is the best tool in your tool box and when properly used will save you a ton of money and time, grief etc.

Whilst this is not a replacement for the service manual its a learning tool http://www.pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9826

Did you relieve the exhaust bridge before installing the cylinder? Here is why we do this http://pilotodyssey.com/ExhaustBridgeRelief.htm

Did you bevel the ports?

Did you drill the lube holes in the piston? It was not done on Nellys Engine and poofkaboom http://www.pilotodyssey.com/PO/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9874

I do not have service manual. I have not done the piston drilling and bridge work but I am going to do all of that very soon before I put it back together. I know of all that and how to do it I just need to know where to align the crank gear on the crank so I can line it up using the timing marks on counterbalancer gear.

Thanks to both you guys for the quick replys. I have been on this site sence the first day I bought my oddy and I have read just about everyting on the site. I know how to do the Engine mods and have the tools to do it right. I have worked on several engines so it is not a big deal to do it. I just don't want the counter balancer to be off even one tooth. I am using my iPhone for my Internet so I can't download the manual. I guess I'll try and find a computer and get it that way and look at it. I was just wondering if anyone knew off hand how to align and time the counterbalancer to the crank off hand. Thanks a million to this site and everyone in it.
