Trying to buy another Fl350 cheap. If you were looking at a Fl350 that had a bent drive shaft and a bent radius arm would you assume that it probably has transmission problems also? This thing looks like it hit a stump or something on the drive shat itself. It has a pretty good bow in it. The radius arm on the same side [left rear] is bowed inward in the middle. They have put at least a one inch spacer between the front of the radius arm and the frame trying to align it a little. Tire still points inward. It's been about a year since I looked at it and thought I was done with it but the guy called and wanted me to make an offer. I'm thinking of parts for my other two if I can buy it right but I wanted thoughts on transmission damage. Thanks.

If the clutch that is attached to the transmission is bent because of collision damage then I would venture to guess that the transmission is also damaged.

The clutch isn't bent but the drive shaft definately is.

tranny is most likely fine. I would remove the damaged side ( axle and trailing arm) and rotate the tranny check the out put shaft where the axle bolts on to see if its bent or a slite wobble. Also drain the tranny fliud to see if any metal comes out.

Are we talking axle here or the output shaft of the transmission? I though we were originally talking about the shaft that the driven clutch mounts to on the transmission. DUH!

If you get a good deal on it the tranny shouldn't be a deal breaker. If your patient you can find some pretty good deals on trannys and trans parts. That baby must have took a serious shot to bend the axle! Holy crap. Id be proactive and be gathering bearings and seals for the trans. Even if its good now that bearing got hit very hard. Good luck

Like I said it's been about a year since I looked at it. It's a couple of hours away so I don't want to go unless the negotiations go well. When I looked at it before I couldn't tell for sure but thought that the axle was bent and the output shaft was ok. I'm sure the top end probably needs at least freshened up. I have another that I haven't split the tranny yet but think it has some problems. I wanted your opinions on the tranny because I think I may be needing one before long. When I looked at it before it did start but the exhaust was blowing rat nests out of it. What are you asking for your tranny Randman?
