Not going into production so don't need a 7000 amp 150% duty cycle welder :-) Son in law has one says its great.

The Miller Syncrowave is very nice. Never had any problems wielding with it. I have wielded 1/4" thick with no problems.

I weld professionally for living, I highly recommend the dynasty 200 DX, a syncrowave is a great machine, but the dynasty is the hot ticket, smaller but incredible performance. I use both at work , the dynasty gets used the most, infact because of it I bought one for my garage. But the real secret is the china welders on the market today will save you big time money and reliably do the same jobs. I own 9 different welders, 7 of them tigs, I really really like the everlast 200 DX, it is a ac dc machine and I have burned a lot of rod with it with 0 issues. Also Lotos makes a 3 in 1 tig arc with plazma cutter all in 1 machine, makes unreal welds, better I feel than my Miller welders, have had ZERO issues with it and it cost about 700 bucks but it is only DC which means no tigging aluminum. BUT it does have a aluminum feature on the arc portion. If you don't weld all the time like I do really consider these and save some money.. Both machines have been very reliable and all torch parts can be bought at your local welding store. There really is no reason a Miller should cost 3 times as much as the everlast 200 DX. In no way am I any kind of sales person LOL just giving a opinion from someone who welds about 12 hours every day Good luck. Just noticed it was you hoser, really, save some huge money and look into the machines I listed. Everlast and Lotos have websites, but with free shipping check them out on E bay, they both have a much longer warranty than Miller covering everything, the Everlast has pulse for welding aluminum, and has the same features as my dynasty

I use a Lincoln square wave tig everyday. If I remember I think it was the 355 model. It has a ton of features also. Never welded with a miller before. Looks like a good welder thou.

I've heard and read a lot of good things about the newer LOTOS and Everlast machines. China is catching up, for sure.

Check out the "welding tips and tricks" web site.I think he has a pretty good look at what the everlast can do.

Thanks for the input guys I went ahead with the Miller Syncrowave 200 AC/DC, TIG/Stick welder, still made in the USA http://www.millerwelds.com/resources/ar ... n-America/ and http://www.stillmadeinusa.com/tools.html#WeldingTools
Like to think I am keeping Americans working supporting the industry that has supported me so well.

Who knows maybe the guts are made in China and they assemble them here with undocumented workers??? Without going to Appleton WI and taking a tour of the plant who knows

Suggestions on what filler rod I need to buy to weld cast aluminum planning on welding some water jackets on FL350 cylinders soon as the welder gets here and I get it setup, like to hit the ground running.

I have a FL350 cylinder that needs a sleeve it will be the first victim I practice on all goes well it will get a new sleeve and sold.

Great choice hoser, just wanted to give you some other options to look at but you wont be sorry. The truth is almost all the internals on a miller are china made but they do put them together in the good ol USA

Git some filler rod from the weld shop and some metal from the local recycle place did a little playing with the welder.

Took a old pre recall FL350 head with the straight fins and did a basic cleaning to practice on, just used sand paper to clean the surface then a stainless wire brush had a lot of porosity in the weld.

Will try sand blasting the casting tomorrow if its not raining then try some more welds see if that cleaning makes it better.

Then just ran some beads on a piece of new plate.

Need to adjust the height of the bar stool so can get comfortable and relaxed for welding.

Remember when tig welding aluminum, CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN and be sure to remove the milscale off of steel, if you don't chances are it will "POP" and cover your tungston. Mild steel can be very messy to tig, just when you think you have the Bad Azz bead going that you will be super proud of, "POP" and you have a hole in your bead and your tungston is twice the size LOL happend to me last night making a cool looking tool to remove the cv LOL 95 percent welded then BANG, a hole big enough to put a pencil lead into LOL Have fun hoser
