I have a repair question...
I was doing some repairs to my Engine on Sunday and found some cracking on my intake...
I have a spare and its been changed already!

Can a intake boot on a fl350 be fixed? I have a few small cracks in the top of my intake to the carb near the aluminum. They don't go all the way through yet but they may someday! Can I fix this before it breaks all the way though or no? If so what can be used?

Thanks...Randy

Messer-thanks for the link, are you going to be joining us at the badlands this weekend?
I'm gonna wait for hoser to chime in to see if he has results from his testing...

as far as repairing a crack, there really isnt a way to fix it. what hoser's link is for making a stiffened up manifold soft again. DO NOT attempt to coat in silicone, it will fail and suck dirt/air

Yeah I saw that, but Randy is trying to repair a cracked boot, not soften his up.

Not worth fixing imo

Not worth risking burning up an Engine for

Toss it. Or, if you are good with aluminum, maybe fab up an intake using your old one, remove the rubber completely, weld on a plate and an inlet and use a piece of silicone hose to clamp the carb on.

Don't know if anyone needs this info but the sand they used in our high school was red in color and was called petrobond. You added some water and your ready for sand casting. I think it came in 50lb bags. Don't remember the price.

I purchased two of these to use on Ody's I rebuilt for Duneit. They are well made but the rubber boot area is made from urethane and it thinner than the factory boot.

So far so good, Dave hasn't had any issues with them yet.
