I have decided to put the Odyssey FL350R up for sale...

Up for sale is my 1985 Honda Odyssey FL350R with a 1995 Polaris 440 fan swap done right (out of a 440 sport snowmobile, parts are widely available).

Jetted right with a factory pipe and D and D silencer. Does not overheat with the 440. Starts first or second pull. Could be put back to stock it someone wanted to.
Clutching is great with a newer belt
New front brakes, bearings and seals.
Lights (hi and low and tail) work with factory switches. Factory mirrors.
The gas tank is now hard mounted correctly.
Transmission shifts smoothly.
No play in the drive shafts or U joints.
Rear tires are newer with knobbies still on them. Fronts are a little older but in good condition. All hold air and don't bleed down.
No rear fenders. Plastic Tub is cracked but has a metal footbed with factory traction mats. Cosmetically it has dings and dents as any one that was ridden does but could be cleaned up nice if wanted.

I am looking for $1,600 or best offer. I am willing to trade for a 2000 or newer KTM 300 EXC or a 4x4 four wheeler. Will throw a little cash in for the right deal. Send me what you got. Can help load or deliver. It is located in Sanbornton, NH about 1.5 hours from Boston, MA.

Thanks!

Chris

No offence, but you cannot claim that this was "done right" with the fuel tank hooked in with a bungee cord, throttle cable running up the roll cage, carburetor sticking out the rear to get knocked off if you ever roll it over. those are just a couple of things i notice just glancing at the pictures.

No offense taken. If you read the ad you would see that the tank is hard mounted now (was held on with bungies due to waiting for paint to dry). The carb is within the cage so no chance of damage with a roll (the foam air filter is sticking out two inches). Throttle cable is up high and then snakes under the roll cage. Due to the high mount of the carb, it had to be routed this way. Death trap? no more than a regular FL350. If it rolls gas will come out of the carb and the vent.

What would you have been done differently? Also, for the record, I didn't do the swap but it was thought out and not just slapped together.

"Could be put back to stock it someone wanted to."

Does this mean it comes with the stock Engine and fuel tank?

Obviously this FL350R is not for you and that is fine. The gas tank location was chosen due to the fact that if it was mounted below the Engine (the only other possible place), during a rollover it would definitely spill all over the Engine and hot exhaust. The tank is hard mounted with a sheet metal catch pan under it separating it from the Engine. There is also a lexan panel between the driver and the Engine. This FL has been ridden approximately 40 or so hours with the hard mounted tank like that with no spills or fires. In fact, if you look at a dirtbike, they have vented plastic tanks directly above the hot and toasty motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )). In a roll or dump, this tank location puts the tank away from the Engine.

Not everyone has the money to buy a spun aluminum tank. The tank has served its purpose well. If someone wants to make me an offer knowing they are going to change the tank than by all means please make an offer. I appreciate constructive criticism but the shock and awe comments get old...

It does not have the stock Engine but I do have the stock fuel tank with pump and petcock. What I meant by that statement was that things were not hacked up and that if someone was looking for a rolling chassis without the swap motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) and items, that could be done.

The swap was done due to overheating issues when running hard as well as a lack of wanting to keep paying inflated prices for rare or non existant parts. This was a solution that has worked, is reliable, and the best part is if something breaks, the parts are cheap.

WTF was Honda thinking when they tucked the Engine and gas tank down into the frame making it almost impossible to tune and service they should have hired this guy to do their design work he has all the answers.

Am I looking at the exhaust correctly?

The expansion chamber pipe exits into the center of a muffler through a strap

Then the muffler pulses out the front and the back?

Is this a special dual exhaust?

Maybe it's just me on a Friday

I was checking that out to. I have no idea what's going on there. What about when that hot muffler gets bent into the plastic boat tank  . I didn't want to say anything mean though so back to my hole.
