Went back to Northam Speedway 22-7-07 and had good luck and bad! Good luck,got 1st and 1st then was going good in 3rd race till motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) died on me. Drats n double drats! Actually I said !@#$% n %$#@!Stopped in the middle of race track, close to the exit, so that was handy anyway. Pulled on the rope, and zero Comp! Pushed it back to pits, and did comp test-0 psi

The track driving conditions are the worst I have ever driven in my life! The mud there is a sticky clay type, the sort brickmakers n clay modellers use. It sticks like dog bog to axminster! Must have had an extra wheelbarrow amount of the stuff on the Pilot, gettin heavier n heavier-like gettin older n fatter! Lots of drought breaking rain all week leading up to the race day.

Anyway, removed plug n exhaust pipe to check colour, white-light grey! with white bits! Dry,used to be black,n obviously leaned out. Made up adapters today for leak test and found hissing noise while pumping up!.Remember not far back one of the guy's here had the leak from right rear cyl-crankcase nut area? So's mine. Will dismantle top end tomorrow and take pics. Question time! Would this air leak have caused the meltdown?(have hole in top of piston crown?) thus resulting in the depowering of the fuel pump,or have been a legasy of it leaning out and geting hot? The temp light did not come on the steering wheel.

What do you think is the reason for holed piston,lean-out? The pilot was working hard! The clay must have been a burden to go thru,like draggin an anchor,especially at race pace,high revs-low labouring speed,lessened air flow.Day temps were cool to cold and windy.25:1 oil mix,40mm/Ltr.Mud plugging up vent tubes? Cyl base gasket lettin go, plus hindering the vacuum fuel pump, resulting in less fuel delivery?
Whatever it was, I had a blast, and was definately lapping faster, against the higher powered buggies. The Pilot really is a Wolf in Sheep's clothing, it pisses off a lot of weekend warriors here!hehe!I have noticed that the worse the conditions are, the more it favours the Pilot.If you watch the vids, we were going at snails pace up the inclines strugglin for traction. Would have been better off with Nukem's Paddles to power on thru the mud crud!

Forgot to mention:
The new Nissan Navara (Frontier? USA) was a pleasant surprise!
Plenty of Up-hill grunt,roomy,nice sound stereo,and THAT quiet! I could actually here everything that me and the family were arguing about!

I have no idea on the poofkaboom at this point I will have to wait and see the autopsy results, I know more load requires more fuel so the loads of the mud may have played a part.

Races are 4-6 laps,timed.

G'Day David, yeah the Baz Bonnet works good,still needs a few mods, but worth the effort.
This mud tho,is a real pain in the !@#$! It sticks!!!! Takes about 2 hours of hosing,brushing,proding etc.
I'll be spraying the Pilot next time with a Silicone spray,to make it easier to hose off next time.
My ol' mechanic said that he used to spray his bikes with a mixture of Diesel, and ol sump oil.

The diesel will really help.. I used to use WD 40 on my shoes when I had to work in mud....

Try your ordinary old household cooking oil spray, PAM.

I've been using it for 25 years, it's cheap and works great.

Works good even in brush and prevents most scratches.
