Back in australia this was the bike I wanted over all others. Just my luck, when I moved up here to the states, well I found that very very few were actually brought here and even less are legal for the road. Years pass and days go by until finally I one morning wake up and was so tired instead of going to craigslist I punched in "NSR250 craigslist" into google. The first one was a ad in Portland, I clicked and low and behold, JUST POSTED LESS THAN 2min AGO! I replied to the ad and called dibs. Guy responded saying he had had over 100 replies in 2 hours, but I was the only one that called dibs on the bike, so he told me lets let a date for 2 weeks from now. Two weeks pass, I teach him on compression, idling, and jetting over the phone, guy is amazed at the difference and we set a date for a week later for me to come. CRAP had to work that day and waited another week.

When I got to Oregon, he showed me the SIX HUNDRED FIFTY TWO e-mails from different people all over the country who had been asking for the bike, I asked why he didnt sell it to the higher offers and he basically told me this "You called dibs, you spoke like you loved it, and I am man that keeps my word", after us both going riding through Hwy 52 (lots of twisties), he agreed I know what im doing on a bike like this, and we both chatted for about 2hrs until I had to head back. Gave my GF the keys and took off on the bike...hahahaha.

I have to say he is someone that I respect, he was getting offers of double the asking price, and still kept the bike for me, just because I jokingly said "I call dibs!". So without more boring reading...here is my new bike;

281lbs WET, handles like a dream and the feel of a legal 2 stroke street bike inbetween my legs... PRICELESS.

My fav street bike (back then) was that Yamadog, 550 2 stroke (only avalible in Canada, eah..) Never got to ride a Oddy back then, so the itch was bad... Got it scratched ..

That old Kawasaki is more rare than my nsr, i am thinking of restoring it this winter.

Anyone have an idea on how to polish the aluminum frame to get it more shinier? Or also the black spots on the forks? Couldnt buff them out.

Isnt buffing the frame going to lower the value of a original bike? heck might as well paint the tank pink and put some wiseco stickers on it whilst your buffing the frame heh

Their might be a way to deal with that white rust you see on the frame I would contact that guy here on this site that does all the old Honda resto projects and see what he says, personally I would want it kept in a condition that will bring top dollar if I ever sold it.

Who is the guy that owns the resto company?

Nice bike... I had two, but just sold my Rothmans... And I have a NSR50R(RS50) as well!! They are very fun bikes to ride and own. Just don't blow it up!! These things don't like bieng run flat out for extended periods.. I found out the hard way dicing it up with my friend on a CBR929.

My bike no longer has the GP pipes on it, when I had to rebuild it I opted for the Tyga side by sides to mock the originals.... Also lunched the lower cylinder when it seized, so it's a 300 now. BIG difference in the midrange punch !! No clutch wheelies at 6000!!
