Back in australia this was the bike I wanted over all others. Just my luck, when I moved up here to the states, well I found that very very few were actually brought here and even less are legal for the road. Years pass and days go by until finally I one morning wake up and was so tired instead of going to craigslist I punched in "NSR250 craigslist" into google. The first one was a ad in Portland, I clicked and low and behold, JUST POSTED LESS THAN 2min AGO! I replied to the ad and called dibs. Guy responded saying he had had over 100 replies in 2 hours, but I was the only one that called dibs on the bike, so he told me lets let a date for 2 weeks from now. Two weeks pass, I teach him on compression, idling, and jetting over the phone, guy is amazed at the difference and we set a date for a week later for me to come. CRAP had to work that day and waited another week.
When I got to Oregon, he showed me the SIX HUNDRED FIFTY TWO e-mails from different people all over the country who had been asking for the bike, I asked why he didnt sell it to the higher offers and he basically told me this "You called dibs, you spoke like you loved it, and I am man that keeps my word", after us both going riding through Hwy 52 (lots of twisties), he agreed I know what im doing on a bike like this, and we both chatted for about 2hrs until I had to head back. Gave my GF the keys and took off on the bike...hahahaha.
I have to say he is someone that I respect, he was getting offers of double the asking price, and still kept the bike for me, just because I jokingly said "I call dibs!". So without more boring reading...here is my new bike;
281lbs WET, handles like a dream and the feel of a legal 2 stroke street bike inbetween my legs... PRICELESS.
