Justin, there is no way you are racing if that is a recent pic. See you at the track on foot.

It's still possible...I've attached another pic taken 10 minutes ago. Just needs body work now.

Dude I'm working on it, lol. I do hate racing in the rain and mud though. If I do bring it, I'm going to need help bleeding the brakes and aligning the suspension, you volunteering to help me?

Well I didn't get my buggy finished, plus with all the rain I really didn't want to race it in the mud anyway without any test driving first.

But I still went to the race to watch since it's only a 2 hour drive each way for me. 9 Pilots competing made for a good race. It was muddy but could have been worse, the mud was more watery and less clumpy if you know what I mean. There was a pretty nasty rock garden section that ate at least 4 wheels and tires on the Pilots alone. Other than that the course was fairly open and fast, with only one big hill climb and descent section.

Results:
1. Trackside
2. Hare
3. Mikey
4. Roy
5. Stoneman
6. PilotGuy5
7. Abby
8. Terri
9. Max

I'll get some pics and video up tomorrow. It seemed like everyone had a decent time racing since it wasn't raining too bad during the race. As the race ended, it proceeded to rain hard for about 2 hours straight. I met Team Stoneman and let me say that Chris makes some killer meat on the grill, which had to be put under a pop up tent to keep the rain off. I even got to meet the elusive "Yoda". The rain definitely put a slight damper on things but overall it was a good time.

Here is my Somerset race report and POV: It was wet muddy, and very rocky, The rocks were tire killers and turned rims into unless scrap Iron. I came home with 4 gashed rear mud lites (they were almost brand new). Two bent up rear OMF bead locks and two mangaled rear stock rims with steel rings welded in. (the insides did not suvive). And all this with what I thought was taking it easy thru the rock section. I will have to give Roy Dains credit for two wheels and tires, He drove my #5 Pilot to a fourth place finish... I made him surrender his 4th award for beating me ( he passed me in the rocky section like he owned the Pilot he was riding). He turned the fastest lap time, which explains my destroyed OMF wheels. Anyhow back to the race, I started on the first row of Pilots with Hare, Mickey and Mrs Hare. The 2nd row was Stoneman, Madmax, Trackside, Mrs Trackside and Brother of Trackside.
The flag drops Hare gets the holeshot, Mickey 2nd and me 3rd we stay this way bumber to bumper for about 1 mile until we reach the rocky section. I follow Hare and Mickey over a boulder that had to be at least 3 feet high, they make it over, but I get high centered all tires in the air... The one lone spectator that happened to be there trys pushing me off backward,, but no luck... I am in reverse trying to spin off the rock and I hear a Pilot come up behind me (Its trackside and his brother). Trackside yells go forward which I know is useless and I know he is not going to get out and help push me over (being in a wheel chair)....then Bang!!!! I launch off the rock like a rocket!! Trackside nails me from behind... I owe him one for that... Then about halfway thru the first lap I am flying down a logging road which opens into a field right before the opening there is an X marker on a tree (which means danger). I am wonder why that is there and not slowing down. Then I see it its a "kicker"..... I hit it close to full speed with brakes locked up, I go end over end over end over end over end, I see dark, light, dark, light, this seems to never end, my helmet is banging around off the roll cage like a pinball... I land on my wheels, I am a little dizzy and alot disoreinted...I figure my day is over, but I am glad to be alive...I press the gas and the pilot still rolls, I see an arrow marker so I get on the gas and go hoping I am on the UTV trail and did not fly off onto the Bike Track... I finish lap #1 in 5th place . Lap #2 is uneventful, I finish it in 4th. Lap 3,4,5 Trackside, me and his brother are together most of the time and having a good battle swapping positions a couple of times. Lap #3 I am in 2nd! Lap #4 I finish in 3rd with two rear flats. I pit get air in one and get one changed. Lap # 5 I run most of with one flat rear which doesnt give me enough time to run the 6th lap. I finish 6th....

Wow sounds like a nice little kick in the wallet lol. I didnt make this round because of the rain. But I will shoot for one of the ohio races. Im on the fence about selling my buggy. I just don't have the mechanical skill to get this thing idling where it should be. Either way I still want to make it to one of the ohio races. I wish I knew someone close who knows all about these buggies. Lol

Congrats to Trackside, another dominate win, glad he don't make it to many races I'd never stand a chance. And thanks for putting this all together for us to enjoy. Even with the rain We had a Blast! Shame we didnt get to cook out and party the night away. Thanks for hooking us all up with transponders

Welcome and Congrats to Trackside's brother Roy for setting the two hottest laps times, one being almost 30 secs faster than the next closest rider trackside, if he keeps them wheels round there will be no touching him, maybe they can share some go fast secrets

heres mine road report

We get 9 pilots of only the hard core guys cause of the weather forecast, you know the list, they rest of you are gay with a capital G, a little rain never hurt anybody. The crowds were reserve, not much yelling or cheering not many epic type spots, just epic over all, this would been a crusher in heavy dust.

Terri and I get there late, imagine that, and can't get to our pit area cause of the races going on. Its off and on light rain most of the past 2 hours but eases up about an hour before the race, with little time to wait and lots of help from the guys we slam my pilot together with some last minute maintenance, change tire, ect. all ready by race time, just a mist in the air but the ground is plenty wet. At the riders meeting(at the start line) the trail boss talks up the rocky section. With a comforting southern draw his explains that we will rip the wheels off if we try to go fast through the 1 mile nasty rocks. trackside is also talking this up saying how much faster we can go after that section, well christ now I am ready for bolder fields the size of toyotas, rubicon rock crawling type stuff. whatever lets just go.

We line up in two rows, those with points and the rest of the mutts (stone trackside ect) ready to bite our asses off at the first road block. I line up inside and Mikey was outside, me seeing the error of my ways I switched to the outside durring the rolling start and mike got a little more outside to squared off the first turn. The announcer girl shouts 10 seconds, then the flag and away we go, I get the holeshot and stay first into the woods soon have mikey all over me, it opens back up and he is right there, he totally outbrakes me going into a turn and takes first place from me and then starts to pull away from me, I have nothing for him but i push as hard as i can knowing of all people I cant let mikey, 2nd in series point, get away from me but he getting away, they have one section of the course poorly marked where we spilt from the main ATV course both mikey and i screw up there but not long but long enough.

We come into another tight section with a real hard turn and a bunch of roots and ruts all over, Mikey gets caught in a tree and i end up up his ass, he cant move cause I have him penned in, it takes me a bit to get in reverse and by that time the rest of the pack has caught us. mikey gets out but i still having some issues and another one or two get by me, i mess up again and now FREAKING EVERYBODY has passed me except the girls (Abby and Terri). Now, as I see it, I am toast, On the first half of lap #1, I went from 1st to 6th with no hope of recovery, these guys just left me in their dust, well mud, and MIKEY only 2 points behind out in front, I drive on, disappointed in myself I get the first lap down. The good news was there were no nasty 3 point turns, No crazy ass toyota sized rocks, no death obstacles or risky hillclimbs. There are a few places to watch for, the rocky section had some sharp edge wheel benders, there was a big ledge type rock about one foot tall, but mainly it was stick to one edge or the other and roll when clear, had a couple mean kicker lips in a few spots, guess one of them got pilotguy5 flipping. Its a cool track maybe even too open, plenty of high speed stuff. I like sure like mud better than dust.

Lap 2 starts to go a little better but I get lost at that same place again and lose a good 30 seconds this time. Not happy I am playing out worse case scenarios for others. How can they go that fast, they are going to break something. Flats, a arms, electrical shorts, running into trees, blow the Engine, come on someone has to make this happen... damn it why aren't I seeing ANY OTHER PILOTS. Am I always this slow? You have to finish to win.You have to finish to win.You have to finish to win.

By the 4th lap at least I know where to go! Its better, I have my groove on feeling good and rolling well for once, funny thing about this race is that the UTVs stayed out in front a bit more so they werent the usual trail blockers. Instead the fast guys came around me freight training a pack of 3, they were nice and i got out of their way as soon as I could, all clean passes. I see Madmax limping in on one wheel, yes I think i am 5th now. The track has gotten pretty nice now, lots of things have flatten out, the good lines are clear to see, its raining steady but the roll off goggles are doing a great job. Time to go to work, I keep steady getting it even pass a UTV or two i figure any spots closer to Mikey will help me salvage the point series. the section before and after the halfway check you can absolutely fly on except this little 12" tall dirt diagonal step up, at speed it was dangerous, a killer, there was no way to square up on it and throttle to "jump" it, you just had to take it best you could, afterwards was another killer section that twisted gently up a hill that had a berm you could not fall out of, I could roll through there knowing it would hook up. Same can't be said for some other sections, the mudd had a grease like quality, almost hard and slick as ice. Still if you caught the tiniest of edges it would hold you through the turn. More wreckage this time around i see half a dozen cars laying trailside, but no pilots.

Down to last lap, I cant believe I seen little to NOBODY but I keep it on and i see a pilot up ahead i think its stoneman but when i close in its Mikey, he has no goggles, his vision is for shit he had to slow down lucky break for me! NOW I am happy agian , well at least i wasn't losing my point lead. Thinking i am catching up i try to push more but it makes no difference, I finish the race with absolutely NO CLUE where i finished except that it was ahead of Mikey. thank God. Mikey is a great sport and one hell of a racer, it is an honor to race with you and this wouldn't be anywhere near as fun without you thanks buddy.

John Dains (Trackside) is THE MAN again. 1st place and well deserved! He comes out with a stock pilot and spanks our asses consistently. Don't worry John I am working on getting me up to speed, I have researchers on it right now I wouldn't want you thinking you can win that easy.

I forgot to mention that on lap 1 or lap 2 (I cant remember clearly) maybe because of the endo Mickey took a wrong turn and Roy Dains followed him, then I followed Roy. Trackside was so far behind us that the dust had already settled and he stayed on course
Buy the time the we all got back on course Trackside had passed us...
OK ....now I have to go spend the rest of the day getting the mud off.
The Awards were really cool!!!! They had a picture of a Pilot on them, ME!!!! from the SC race. Too bad I didnt place and get one, but Roy felt sorry for me and gave me his. Maybe Hare can post a picture of his 2nd place along with his last years #1 plate and Trophy that we finally got to him

Just got home.
8hrs 1 way.
I was in the second row and got third place going into the woods behind Trackside and his brother? My pilot wasn't running the best with wet filters and cool temps.
1st lap I was right with the leaders until I followed the guy in front of me between 2 trees. He made it but my nerf bars wedged me in and that was the knive in my chest. Took me 5 min. to free myself and continue. That put me in last place. I was able to plug along and finish 5th overall. Not bad concidering my miserable 1st lap. :-)
There was @ 3-4 utvs running very hard and fast laps. I had a few friendly bumps from behind and moved over asap. One guy blazed past me and over shot the berm ahead going end over end at high speed. The long rocky section was killer on my hands and arms. I was like a rag doll after 5 laps of that.
Trackside was awarded a special Holeshot award and Madmax received the last place "Safe Driver"toilet award.
Unfortunately the horrible weather conditions prevented any after race mingling, cookout, party activity.
Good to see all the hardcore piloteers and some new faces. We plan to hit the next one in 2 weeks. :-)
I will post some cool video and pix in the next few days.

All that is killer footage. Nice pass by the stonemon, great comentary, I love seeing the video it makes it easier to remember what happened so I can keep my lies straight. I really had a good time again, these tracks are killer, only way it could be better would be 2 HOUR races.

btw

JusMtb44 came out, even without his buggy and in the rain and mud and helped everybody with everything and took killer footage, very cool thanks Justin.

Team Stoneman had the grill kicking and some kind of special beef that was awesome and gave lots of help, thanks Chris and Max aka The Hammer

Trackside carefully recieving and guarding our (Mikey123 and mine) coveted series awards if he's anything like me they probably drove across the county a few times. John is the reason we get to do this they absolutely love him and thanks for finally bringing some real talent in to race.

Pilotguy5 for keeping the dream alive and being our rep, we will see you in Ohio

Mikey for hooking me up permanately with my lucky "wheel" and way too much more to list.

last and anything but least thank you Terri for wanting to come out and being so cool about racing pilots and still pushing so hard to make it happen even after busting our asses all day I love you

here are some pics i found

very touching Hare. Now here is a touching story for you.

When we got there Friday, the neighbor told us that he chased out a baby deer near the camp. It remained elusive for the day but then on Saturday morning, it appeared just when Pilotguy5 was taking his killler boxer out for a morning relief session. Pilotguy had to hold back the dog with all his might long enough for the fawn to run away.

Later that day when we were prepping for the race, some one a few camps over started yelling "Grab your dog, Grab your dog". Not knowing what the hell was going on, we are all looking around. Ten seconds later, that little fawn comes running through our camp. Reacting to the "grab your dog" screams, PilotGuy leaps through the air and tackles his killer boxer who is now in full stride anticipating a young fresh venison snack. The fawn escapes death and disappears into the high weeds.

After the race, we are drying off in the camper and Pilotguy's wife was begging him to go find that baby deer. Pilotguy is not really a compasionate man and he was not about to go on the hunt for a deer in the rain.

Fastforward to about 8 pm when I am just about to leave. I am driving out the front gate when I hear on the track radio that they need a game warden on site to take a baby deer. I reply on the radio that if they bring the deer to me, that I will take it and take care of it. They bring the deer to me and Abby instantly becomes its new mother. The deer is wet and cold and near death. Abby warms it up in an electric blanket and we truck on out the front gate to the nearest Walmart hoping they have some baby bottles and "deer milk" on the shelves.

The nearest thing to deer milk was kitten milk. That has to do. Once we get home, my sister and mother are waiting to help make this deer drink some kitten milk. My mother finally gets it to take in a few ounces of kitten milk and the deer acts like it just drank a 40 oz. Red Bull. The next day, the deer appears more healthy and we let it loose in the house. If finds the cat laying down and tries like hell to find a nipple anywhere on the cat, but the cat has none.

A call to the game warden confirms that if we give the fawn to them, they will put it down (kill it). So, instead he advises that if it is healthy, take it back to the race after the racers leave and the mother will come back for it. So today, the deer will be going back to the race where I beat all the Pilot racers once again.

On lap 5 I saw that deer on the track. I stopped, grabbed it and carried it far off into the woods so it would be safe... that's why I finished 6th. I should have let Dodger eat it saturday morning....

Since Pilotguy got on the plaques, I talked to the promoter and I am getting a plaque for every finish. So, if you got a 6th through 9th, I will have a trophy with Pilotguy5's picture. you will have to contact him for his autograph and send me a PM with your address so I can send it on to you.
