One of the members of this site is related to Bob Briggs old mechinic/fabricator.I forget who it is but he has a thread started on a buggy he had just bought when he discovered who his uncle(I think) was.Might be one of the earlier briggs?Try searching for briggs maybe you can find this guy.He could be a big help in figuring out/setting-up these engines you have.Just a thought.

Here it is , viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5250&hilit=briggs

Start on the first post on page 4,then scroll down to somewhere after the pics,some good info there for you.

Hmmm..link didnt work,this is the title of the thread-EEE Stadium Lite!

Link fixed by hoser you had a comma too close to the link at the front end then had a period behind the link this kills the link....

Last night I talked with one of the guys that was into this whole thing
Looks like we have 2 different motors
Briggs built and Rennie Awanna built{used to race with Jimmy Johnson!}

Nature's Recipe stadium lites ..these were the best out there they say
anyway, my 420{400} was built by Rennie
tons of low end torque{teeth chattering} is what I was told
these motors will in fact last a whole racing season without any issues
given the right maint. and running them FAT!
,these were beat to death when we got them though..Go figure!
My 360 topend was done by someone different,someone that had to do with Rennie,I will have more info on that today!

I will have alot more info in the next few days

Ed

You get all the details on the Engine bore, stroke, piston mfg., cylinder sleeve part number, rod part number, any mods done to the cases or crank in case you have to replace them, port timing info, compression ratio info. ?

Ok,guys I got a few more details today
plus a vintage video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2wGFwV5S1Y" ."..

Details on the Rennie 400
turns out, my motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) has a few goodys added to it
kawasaki KX 500 exhaust port and intake
KX 500 reed cage
cr 500 style head
mikuni watercraft pumper carb{ will stay running even when rolled over on rollcage!..LOL}
wiesco yz 490 piston shaved a bit
standard honda rod
same set up as in the rennie car in this video{might be the same motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? ))}
88.5 mm bore
standard crank..cleaned up a bit and pinned
sleeve from northwest sleeves
stock bearings..doubled up
avg compression between 170 and 180 psi
lowerend,studs relocated for the kx 500 stuff
custom cases to house the extra bearings
spacer plate for timing

This motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) is built to run about 8000 to 8500 rpm with lots of low end torque
should be clutched at about 5500 rpm stall to perform best
avg price to do this motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? )) back then,with the man hours involved... was about $5k

The good news is I may have found a couple of more of these motors to be bought!
lots of parts too!

still getting more details on the 360
I do know this,it was a stadiumlite race motor (( Internal Combustion Engine ? ))
and very nasty too, in the video,car number 7 is BV racing same head as mine
should really be a beast in the ody!
But I have to do some more digging!

plumbing is roughed in, running very cool
I guess its time to pretty it up a bit now
plug chops, wire my egt and temp
I need to work on the idle a bit also,

Quick question...
Is it normal to smoke as much as it is?
running full syn oil at 32 to1.

If your jetting is rich or if it is cold it will smoke like you are running a mosquito abatement smoker! LOL :-)

It will smoke little or not at all once jetting is dialed in and up to operating temp.

Until he runs it under load and cleans out the fresh bottom end it will smoke while idleing...
